HOW IS MY NEIGHBOR DOING?
Someone said, "God Is still waiting
to see what can be accomplished
by a man or a nation that will take
seriously His command 'Love thy
neighbor as thyself.'"
In today's world, how is my
neighbor doing?
Well, two billion of them eat only
two meager meals a day. Two
billion of them live off of a three
acre piece of land on which they
raise $300 in crops. Of this money,
$100 goes to their landlord.
Two billion of them have total
holdings amounting to $5.00.
And, as a result of that hard,
ignominious life, each of these two
billion people will live 30 years less
than you or I.
They have seen no magazines all
their lives; no electric lights, ever;
no running water. And their entire
lifetime wardrobe of clothes comes
to them second hand, and numbers
only 12 pieces.
Now do two things before you
lay this down-
1. Be grateful to God for abundance
2. Pray to learn to share more
meaningfully

1 Douglas Bruce of Wisconsin
came by to visit Etsie and Don
Hickman. Douglas’ wafe,
mother-in-law and two daugh-
ters were here for a couple of
days. The Hickmans took them
to Hawley Cemetery, the Bles-
sing Hotel for a Texas break-
fast and other places of inter-
est. Don and Douglas are cou-
sins. The weather was very
disagreeable but we enjoyed
having them drop by.
We had a quiet Easter week-
end as manyeancelledbecau.se
of the weather.
The Don Hickmans too, went
back to Wisconsin and the Cla-
rence Grices to Missouri.
Both couples left such a void
in the hotel family as they are
such cheerful, lovable, Inte-
resting people. They have
made contributions that added
so much to our season.
Don and Etsie have never
ceased smiling and being op-
timistic and friendly no mat-
ter how disagreeable the wea-
ther or circumstances.
The Grices contributed their
music, warmth and personal-
ities their first year here, so
all of us are looking forward to
their return.
The Hickmans, after 4years
are two of the pillars of the
hotel.
Not only the Luther Hotel
hit the entire community will
miss our winter people. They
are interested in our history,
places of interest, as well as
participating in the events in
our town - everything from the
trail ride to the school band’s
Mexican supper.
They have supported our
churches, beauty shops, gro-
cery stores, dress shops, fil-
ling stations, pharmacy,
cafes, the craft shop, as well
as the doctors and dentist.
They enjoyed especially the
Library and golf course ami
were so appreciative of both
facilities. These people are
genuinely interested in our
area and are hopeful that the
people will some day realize
the value of our town, will
clean it up and offer more for
tourists.
More next week.
