Local scout honored...
LIFE SCOUT Jeremy Cuellar from Troop 109 of Point
Comfort, son of James and Mary Weed of Palacios and
Jay and Evelyn Cuellar of Seadrift recently attended
the Order of the Arrow Ordeal at Camp Karankawa.
This is a national brotherhood of scout campers. The
honor of becoming a member of the O.A. is one that
scouts can not set out to earn on their own. This honor
is bestowed on a scout by the members of his troop.
He must be an outstanding scout and an unselfish
camper.

4-H News....
BY LEAH THOMPSON and LAWRENCE WICK, County Em. Agents
The October 4-H Council and Adult Leaders' meeting will be next
Monday (Oct. 7) at the Mopac Building in Collcgcport. We will begin
with supper at 7 p.m. followed by our council and adult leaders'
meeting. Everyone is encouraged to attend so we may discuss future
dates and the upcoming Rice Dish Roundup and Rice Festival.
We would like to have each club to make a poster of their activities
and members participating in club events so that we can put them on
display in the 4-H promotion booth at the Rice Festival. If your club
has pictures and materials that you would like to use for the poster,
bring them to the council meeting and we can work on our posters.
The entries for the County Food Show arc ready to be picked up. I
will have some with me at the Collcgcport meeting, but you can come
by the Courthouse and get them also. The deadline for entries is Oct.
25. The Food Show will be Nov. 2.
The Helping Hand 4-H Food and Nutrition project members took
a tour to HEB last Thursday. The 4-Hcrs compared different foods,
prices and cost per serving. This is one of the project's objectives that
they arc learning as they get prepared for the County Food Show. We
would like to thank HEB for being so courteous and allowing us to
tour their store.

CHIROPRACTIC
OUTLOOK ^
WHIPLASH
After an auto accident, some
drivers think they’ve gotten off scot-
free - no damage, no pain, no broken
bones. Well, broken bones are easy to
spot, but the pain and discomfort that
accompanies whiplash may not be
noticeable for some time.
As a car comes to a sudden stop
- especially in a collision - the body
is thrown forward and back and
forward again. The head goes back
and forth, too, straining the neck
vertebrae and muscles that hold it
up.
It may be several days betore
stiffness and pain in the neck become
evident. Headache, blurred vision and
tingling in the arms and shoulders may
occur. After an accident, see your
chiropractor for a thorough checkup.
