Plans are on schedule for the
second annual “Lake Texana
Aqua-Fest” which will be held
Aug. 2 beginning at 1 p.m. The
event is sponsored by the Jack-
son county Chamber of Comm-
erce and Agriculture.
Gates will open at 9 a.m. to the
public and drivers will begin
testing their vehicles at this time.
Refreshments will be available at
a variety of food and drink
concession booths.
The race site will be located
below the Lavaca Navidad River
Authority headquarters.
The races are sanctioned by
the American Powerboat Associ-
ation.
Admission will be $4 per
person and a $1 per car parking
fee will be charged. Children
under eight years of age will be
admitted free of charge. Pre-sale
tickets are $3 each.
No seating will be available
and spectators are being asked to
bring their own lawn chairs.
A kick off dance has been set
for Aug. 1 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
at the Texana Grounds on Lake
Texana at the Highway 111

Open shotgun tournament set
for Sunday west of Markham
The Bay City Gun. Club,
located 2 miles west of Markham
on Farm Road 2431, has announ-
ced it will hold an open Shotgun
Tournament Sunday. Registra-
tion and shooting will begin at 10
a.m. and close at 1 p.m.
The shoot will be open to the
public and will consist of 100 clay
targets inlcuding 25 rounds 16
yard trap, 10 rounds 27 yard trap,
11 pair Davant Doubles, 14 pair
Skeet Doubles, 15 rounds to be
announced. The entry fee is $45
for open men and women, $80 for
husband and wife, $20 for youth,
$60 for parent and youth which
also inlcudes a noon meal for all
Calhoun County jury
indicts Palacios trio
Three Palacios men were am-
ong the 14 persons arrested by
area law enforcement officers
late last week on drug related
charges after indictments were
handed down by a special session
of the Calhoun County grand
jury.
The indictments and arrests
were the result of an undercover
operation that began in January.
The grand jury named 20 persons
in 16 indictments as a result of
the investigation conducted by
Calhoun County and adjoining
county law officers along with the
Department of Public Safety nar-
cotics division.
All 14 people arrested last
Wednesday and Thursday were
arraigned before Calhoun County
Pet. 1 Justice of the Peace
Marlene Paul.
The three Palacios men arres-
ted following the undercover
operation and grand jury indict-
ments were Paul Anthony Gar-
cia, 18, Sammy Pena, 29, and
Esibio Escoheito. Jr., 35.
Garcia was charged with feiony
possession of marijuana »nd
released on $7,500 bond.
Separate charges of delivery of
marijuana and possession of
marijuana were filed on Pena.
Bond was set at $7,500 on the
delivery charge and $5,000 on the
possession charge.
Escoheito was charged with
felony possession of marijuana
and released on $5,000 bond.
Residents of Port Lavaca, Port
O'Connor and Seadrift were also

Howard Gene Hicks,
Seadrift was charged with poss-
ession of cocaine. He was
released on $10,000 bond.
Michael Robert Lucchessi, 22,
of Port Lavaca, was released on
$7,500 bond. Lucchessi is charg-
ed with delivery of marijuana.
Carlos Arriaga, 29, of Port
Lavaca, indicted for delivery of
marijuana, was released after
posting $7,500 bond.
Timmy Ray Goodman, 18, of
Seadrift, was released on $10,000
bond. Goodman was indicted for
possession of cocaine.
Samuel Maldonado Gonzales,
28, of Port Lavaca, was indicted'
for delivery of marijuana and two
counts of possession of marijua-
na. Bond was set at $7,500 on the
delivery charge and $2,500 on
each possession charge. He was
released on bond.
Shirely Louise Freck, 28, of
Port O'Connor, was released on
$10,000 bond. Freck was indicted
for delivery of ?nethampheta-
mine.
Beth Michelle Rivera, 19, of
Pori Lavuca, '* as charged with
delivery of marijuana. She was
released on $7,500 bond.
Jordan Eric Dworaczyk, 18, of
Seadrift, was released after
posting $10,000 bond. Dworaczyk
was indicted for possession of
cocaine.
Thomas Ciprano Martinez, 20,
of Seadrift, was indicted for
possession of cocaine and bond
was set at $10,000.
Bond was set at $20,000 for Joe
Luis Trevino, 26, of Port Lavaca,
on a charge of delivery of
marijuana.
Mary Jane Ramirez, 44, of Port
Lavaca, is being held on a charge
of delivery of marijuana. Ram-
irez’s bond is set at $7,500.
