For the second time in two
months, the Palacios Beacon
has captured top honors in
Texas regional newspaper
competition, this time taking
the Sweepstakes Award for
Division 1 newspapers in the
1994 Texas Gulf Coast Press
Association’s Better Newspa-
per Contest.
The Palacios Beacon won
first place plaques in seven in-
dividual categories along with
two second place honors and
one honorable mention. In
April, the Palacios Beacon
also won the Sweepstakes
Award as the Best AU-Round
1 newspaper in the South
Press Association com-
