Four local students
on SHSU Dean’s list
Summer
Four students from Palacios
have been named to the fall
semester Dean’s List at Sam
Houston State University.
They are: Russell M. Brhlik,
who earned a 3.3 grade point
average, Cynthia Ann Janak,
3.0; Larry Jay Junek, 3.4; and
Lillian Lyn Zemanek, 3.4.
The average GPA for SHSU
students was 2.61 this past
semester. Graduate students
maintained the best overall
average at the university, with
a 3.34 GPA. Senior students
averaged a 2.89, junior, 2.67,
sophomores, 2.54 and fresh-
men, 2.13,
Admission deadline
The deadline date for
applications for admission to
graduate study at the Univer-
sity of Houston Victoria
Campus for the first summer
term is Monday, April 19.
Applications received after
this date will be processed
only if time permits, according

having purchased the plant

make Palacios their home.
The Queen Theatre was

The Junior-Senior banquet
was held at the H. E. Cottage.
Estelle Elder read the class
poem and Merwin Robinson
gave the class will.
Frank Tilton, blind pianist of
KPRC, was featured in a
• program for the benefit of the
Camp Fund.
The Wednesday Club's
• annual banquet was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.
C. Gray.
55 YEARS AGO
The Palacios Shell Co. was
awarded the contract of
furnishing $36,000 worth of
shell for building roads in
Brazoria County.
John F. Barnett, Jr. won
first place in the kite contest at
the East Bay School and
Rudolph Mosier won second.
Palacios representatives in
the district meet in Houston
were: Esther Bullock and
Maurine Lawson, girls’ tennis;
Raymond Water and Merwin
Robinson, boys' tennis;
Charles Nester and Estelle

urged to
register
Students presently attend-
ing Wharton County Junior
College in Wharton are urged
to register early, between
April 22-28, for the 1976 Fall
Semester which begins classes
on August 30.
The Student Personnel
Office now has available Early
Registration Packets that
contain admission appli-
cations, schedule sheets and
cards, and other information.
A time for early registration
is assigned students upon
completion of forms provided
in the packets. Students
should be prepared to pay
tuition's and fees at the time of
registration.
Early registration, coun-
seling and orientation for
those students who can not
avail themselves of the April
22-28 dates has been set for
June 14-August 13. Hours
daily are 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
