Congratulations to Derrlll
Franzen who was the first
deer hunter to bring home
his deer Saturday morning. He
shot the 7 point buck on his
maternal grandmother’s farm
on the Carancahua River.
Dean F. Merck and Russell
Merck of League City were In
our area doing some survey-
ing last Saturday. They had
supper with the Dean Mercks
and visited Mr. and Mrs. Rob
Wells.
The R. L. Wells returned
last Monday from a camping
trip to Lake Sommervllle.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wells
went to Ganado Thursday even-
ing to visit their grandson,
Alan Fitzpatrick, In the Ganado
hospital. Alan suffered severe
cuts on his back and legs when
the boat he was In on the back
of a pickup was thrown out.
Mr. and Mrs. James Murphy
of Abingdon, Va. were visitors
and dinner guests of Mrs. D.
N. Tate and relatives on Wed-
nesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard T.
Roller and children of Houston
were Sunday guests of Mrs. L.
C. Smith.
Mrs. R. L.Corporon visited
her daughter and family, the
Robert Kesslers of Point Com-
fort, this past week,
G. W. Tate of Houston was
an overnight guest of his mo-
ther, Mrs. D. N. Tate, this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. James A.
Penland and daughter were
weekend guests of his parents
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Penland.

Henry Ledwlg and family of
Matagorda who have moved to
our community.
Mrs. Julius Ledwlg and sons
visited her mother, Mrs. Mary
Lestak In Damon.
Julius Ledwlg brought home
a 6 point buck on the opening
day of deer hunting.

Hruzek tallied his second touch
down with 14 seconds left in
the game on a 14-yard run.
Tldehaven scored Its only
points with 48 seconds left
to play on a five yard run by
Paul Krenek.

The Women of the Church
of the First Presbyterian
Church of Collegeport met In
regular session in the Sadie
Ellen Room, Thursday after-
noon, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m.
The president, Mrs. Gus
Franzen, opened the meeting
with prayer and moderated the
Bible Study, Hosea 2:2-23,
The Pursuits of Love’’, the
second study from - Hope that
Frees and Unites".
•Long Suffering" was the
theme of the Least Coin and
Fellowship devotional led by
Mrs. Russell Corporon. She
also gave the Stewardship-
Emphasis, ‘'Give - You Can
Make a Difference".
The secretary, Mrs. Dean
Merck, read the October min-
utes and called the roll which
was answered with Bible ver-
ses, The treasurer, Mrs. John
Merck, gave the treasurer’s
report which was accepted.
Plans for the annual Christ-
mas meeting were made. This
year the meeting will be held
on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Mrs.
Lloyd Nixon of El Campo will
1* the guest speaker following
the luncheon at noon. This
meeting Is the highlight of the
year when friends join the WOC
members for this enjoyable and
spiritual meeting.
Thinking of You cards were
signed to be sent to those in
the hospital, M, A. Ellis In Ma-
tagorda General and Mrs. Ed-
ith Ackermnn, Wagner General
Hospital.
The meeting dosed with the
group repeating the Mtzpah.
