Rebel Riders mount-up Sunday
for donkey ballgame, playday
Palacios Beacon, April 23t 1987-Page 3
The Rebel Riders will have a
playday and donkey ballgame
on Sunday at 12 noon.
The playday will start at 12:30
p.m. with the first event. Entry
fees will be $1 for adults and 50
cents for children 12 and under
per event. It will be held at the
home of James Gibson.
The donkey ballgame will
begin at 6 p.m. Everyone who
plans to participate must have
their own horse, saddle, etc.
There will be a covered dish
supper. Everyone is to bring a
covered dish if they plan on
having supper, also lawn chairs
and their own drinks.
The Rebel Riders, officers
and members will not be
responsible for any accident
thay may occur.
The public is invited to
attend. It is not necessary to be
a member to take part in the
playday and ballgame.
Blessing Day has
parade, barbecue
A parade, barbecue and other
activities will take place during
the annual Blessing Day event
May 3rd. Proceeds from the
event will go toward the upkeep
of the Blessing Community
Center.
The barbecue, to be held at
the community center, will be
from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Plates
to go and meat will be sold at
the pits. Price is $4 per plate.
Also on tap will be a bike
decorating contest at 12:30 p.m.
along with a cake walk, cake
auction, horse shoe tournament
and other recreational activi-
ties.
A parade will be held at 2:30
p.m. Anyone interested in
participating in the parade
should contact Ona Lee Pierce
at 588-6389.

Chamber of Commerce. Locat-

K-Woiena building, Marlin’s

Library Open House this week
Don’t forget that this is Open
House Week at the Palacios
Library, 326 Main in Palacios.
The open house celebrates the
20th anniversary of the opening
of the current library facility.
At 10 a.m. on Tuesday and
Wednesday, April 21-22, child-
ren were entertained at story-
telling sessions.
On Saturday, April 25, there
will be a collectibles exhibit and
reception for the public from 2-6
p.m. at the library. All area
residents are urged to visit, to
help commemorate the occasion.
There still is room for a few
more exhibits at the collectibles
show. Please call Jacque Moore
(972-3234) or Barbara Hamlin
(972-3232) if you are interested.
Also, the Palacios Library
plans to hold a sidewalk book sale
in the near future. Keep an eye
on the Beacon for exact date and
time. If you have any books-
new, used, paperback, hardback
-that you would like to donate to
the library for the sale, please
