Walter Allen Sanford
Funeral services for Waitei
Allen Sanford, Jr. were held at 2
p.m. Wednesday, May 10, in the
Taylor Brothers Funeral Chapel
in Bay City with the Rev. Milton
McWilliams officiating. Interment
was in Hawley Cemetery.
Son of the late Mr. and Mrs
Walter Sanford of Blessing, he died
in Veterans Hospital in Houston,
Sunday, May 7.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs.
R. B. Trull, a niece, Barbara Trull
and two nephews, Ronald Williams
and Scott Trull all of Palacios.
Eugene A. Mixon
Funeral services for Eugene A.
Mixon, 64, a rice farmer and ranch-
er in the Collegeport area, were
held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the First
Presbyterian Church of Bay City
with Dr. A. T. Dyal officiating. In-
terment was in the Cedarvale
Cemetery in Bay City.
A resident of Matagorda County
for 37 years, he was in the whole-
sale produce business a number of
years. He died at 5 a.m. Saturday
in the Methodist Hospital in Hous-
ton.
Mr. Mixon was a ruling elder
Church and a former ruling elder
in the First Presbyterian Church
of Bay City.
He is survived by his wife; one
daughter, Mrs. Wilma Jeanne Red-
doch of Old Ocean and two grand-
children.

Mrs. Elizabeth Sherrill
Funeral services for Mrs. Eliza-
beth Jones Sherrill were held at
2 p.m. Saturday in the Taylor
Brothers Funeral Chapel in Bay
City with Rev. Bryant Sherrill of
the Trinity Assembly of God
Church of Hearne, Texas, officiat-
ing. Graveside services and inter-
ment were in the Palacios Ceme-
tery.
A resident of Bay City since
1912, she was born October 16,
1885, and died Friday, May 5, in
her home in Bay City.
Survivors include h|er three
daughters, Miss Bertha Evelyn
Sherrill, Miss Julia Sherrill, of
Bay City and Mrs. Ruby Mae Lax-
son of Encino; six sons, C. .T., C.
D. and Gilbert Sherrill, of Houston;
W. H. Sherrill of Page, Wesley
Sherrill of Huntsville and Gifford
Sherrill of Bay City; 13 grand-
children and 20 great grand-
children.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter P. Roach
are happy to announce the arrival
of their 22nd grandchild, Matthew
j Trent Sell, who was born to Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Sell of Houston.
I He was bom April 30 and weigh-
ed six pounds eight ounces. Also
happy over his arrival is his pa-
ternal grandmother, Mrs. Bridget
Sell of Houston.

Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Beard of
Wharton are the proud parents of
a baby boy, Michael Paul, who ar-
rived May 2. Elated over his ar-
rival are his grandparents, Mr and
Mrs. Eugene Wittig of Pierce and
Mrs. Joe Beard of Palacios and his
two sisters, Sherrie and Bonnie.
Round-Up 4-H Club
The Round-Up 4-H Club had a
meeting on April 14. The meet-
ng was called to order about
:45 p.m.
We had the motto, pledge and
rayor. We voted on having the
Adult Leader’s meeting and the
onncii meeting at the same time
n the first Monday night of the
month. This was passed by our chib
hut it has to be passed by the
other clubs also.
The meeting was turned over to
Mr. Joiner, who handed out forms
or our record books. He told us
mw to put it together and went
hrough the National Report forms
since they are new.
I he meeting was adjourned and
refreshments were served.
