Orientation meeting
AREA MINISTERS and health
officials met Friday aa part of
an orientation meeting design-
ed to aid the ministers to better
aid victims of disaster and
accident. In attendance were
ministers Doug Blanton, Herb
Wilke, Bernard Rltchea, Gerry
Cernoch, Greg Korenck, R.H.
Zumalt and Bill Wagner. lead-
ing the seminar were Bill
Plmperton, Rev. Odem Dyess,
Dr. Ray Spaw, Hilda Maynard
and various city representativ-

Quilt entries sought; no entry fee
Saturday quilt show ‘labor of love’
The Palacios Area Historical
Association Quilt Show gives
quitters a wonderful opportunity
to pick up new ideas and share
your labors of love with others
who have the same interest.
The show will be at the Hill
Building in Palacios at the corner
of Commerce and Fourth Streets
and is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this
Saturday, Oct. 3rd.

show is Anna Highberg Baltar.
She has shared her talent by
giving quilts to various charitable
groups in the area over the years.
Anna is famous for her Texas
Star quilts, some in various
colors, and some in shades of one
color. Her eyes sparkle as she
tells stories of some of her quilts
and those who buy them.
Entries are needed to make
this show a success. Everyone is
eligible to enter quiits-there is
no tee for entering, and all ages
and types of quilts are wanted.

them to the show. Baby quilts,
doll quilts, along with clothes,
toys, pillows, etc. made from
quilt pieces are all wanted for
displays.
Also wanted are handiwork,
such as old embroidery, crochet,
knitting, etc. If you don’t use
dresser scarves anymore but
have those made by grandma,
bring them so that we can all
enjoy looking at them. Again, no
fee to enter.
Those who wish to leave their
quilt products earlier, should call
512-972-5241 or bring them to the
Museum between 9 and 10 a.m.

fee to the show. Refreshments
will be available.
The quilts will be carefully
handled and will not be allowed
to be touched by others. All
entries will be clipped with
clothespins (wrapped) or draped
on tables.

Christian Life Center around
11:40 p.m. Sept. 19.
A bike valued at $50 was
reported taken from a residence
in the 800 block of Main Sept. 21.
A man reported a 9-mm Luger
and box of ammunition, total
value $227, was taken from a
boat at Turning Basin No. 1
between Sept. 22-26.
A man reported he was bitten
by a German Sheperd dog while
in the 400 block of Morton Sept.
25.
A 22-year old woman reported
she was assaulted by another
woman following a verbal argu-
ment. The incident occurred
around 7 p.m. Sept. 26 in a
tavern in the 800 block of Main.
Police received a report of a
V-hull boat, motor and home-
made trailer were stolen from the
East Bay boat ramp between
6-7:45 a.m. Sept. 27. The owner
of the boat told police he had left
the area for a brief period and
found the items, valued at
$3,500, missing when he return-
ed. No complete description of
the boat or TX number was
provided.
A man reported that he was
returning tools to another man in
the 800 block of Commerce when
the man assaulted him. The
incident occurred around 9:40
p.m. Sept. 27.
A woman in the 1700 block of
Gray reported a purse containing
$130 had been taken between 1-3
a.m. Sept. 27.
A 20-inch BMX bike was:
reported taker from the 1300
block of 4th Street between,
1:15-1:30 p.m. Sept. 27.

One person received minor
injuries, but refused treatment,
following a two-car collision on
Hwy. 35 in Port Lavaca last
Thursday night.
Theresa Christy, 32, of Bless-
ing, was taken to Memorial
Medical Center in Port Lavaca by
but refused treatment,
had been one of four
passengers in a car driven by
Juan Salinas Juarez, 24, of
Palacios when it was involved in
a colision with a car driven by
Helen Michelle Higgins of Port
Lavaca.
Other passengers in Juarez’s
1980 Pontiac were Pablo Juarez
37, Felix Juarez, 25, and Jamie
DeLe Crus, 26, all of Palacios.
A Port Lavaca police officer,
responding to the accident, coll-
ided with another car which left
eight injured. The officer, Rich-
ard Ramirez, was north bound on
Broadway enroute to the Higg-
ins-Juarez accident when his
patrol car and a vehicle driven by
Alfred Quintanilla, 28, of Port
Lavaca, collided.
Quintanilla and six pass??L •*,
in his vehicle were hospitalized
with injuries. The passengers
were David Quintanilla 24, Al-
fred Quintanilla Jr. 8, Albert
Quintanilla 7, Patricia Goiens 23,
Samantha Goins 4, and Martin
Sauseda 24, all of Port Lavaca.
Ramriez was treated for injur-
ies and released.
