Palacios police news:
A 67-year old Palacios woman
was cited for failure to remain at
the scene of an accident and for
failure to yield right-of-way to
.pedocyclist (bicycle rider) foll-
owing an accident Oct. 29 at 8th
and Perryman.
The bicycle rider, a 21-year old
man, was taken by ambulance to
Wagner General Hospital where
he was treated for minor injuries
' and released.
According to police, the man
was northbound on 8th Street
around 5:23 p.m. when struck by
.a 1978 Ford traveling east on
' Perryman.
* -A man was cited for failure to
control speed Oct. 31 when the
-Ford pickup he was driving ran
"'off the road on Hwy. 35 west and
struck a sign and fence. The
accident occurred around 9:10
-’p.m. Two occupants of the truck
reportedly received minor injuri-
es.
-A burglary was reported at a
-residence in the 1000 block of
Welch Oct. 28. Items reported
missing included a $25 .22
caliber revolver, a nine-shot
•• magazine and a $200 camp gun.
■ - -The Town Pump tavern in the
" 400 block of Commerce was cited
" for violation of a five day
suspension Oct. 27 after officers
found beer being sold.
-Police received a report of an
assault on a woman in the 900
- block of Main around 3:40 p.m.
Oct. 30. The woman told police
"" she was attacked by a man while
walking to her car. She said she
was knocked to the pound and
„ choked before managing to break
loose and fleeing.
-The burglary of a washateria
on 6th Street was reported Oct.
30. Nine coin boxes were pried
open and approximately $200 in
change taken. Damage was es-
timated at $1,000,
-A video game room in the 800
block of Main was burglarized
Oct. 30 with an estimated $400-
$500 in change taken.
-Police received a report of
tampered candy Halloween night
from a woman in the 900 block of
Moore who reported finding a
1 Vi-inch paneling nail in a candy
bar.
-Tires were cut and eggs
thrown on a car at a residence in
the 2400 block of Gray Nov. 1.
-A man reported Nov. 1 that
his truck was hit by several eggs
around 1:20 a.m. near 3rd and
Lucas.
-A resident in the 800 block of
Perrv..an reported that rocks
had been thrown through a glass
window Nov. 1.
-Police investigated an agg-
ravated assault in the 800 block
of Humphrey around 4:44 p.m.
Nov. 2 in which a woman was
stabbed with a knife in the arm
and leg by another woman. A
suspect was arrested in the case,
however the victim declined to
press charges.
-A pit bull was shot and killed
by a man who told police the dog,
which belonged to a neighbor,
had broken its chain and attacked
him while he was mowing. The
incident occurred in the 700 block
of Rorem at approximately 3:43
p.m. Nov. 2.

Public invited to
traveling exhibit
The public is invited to view a
traveling exhibit located in the
lobby of the Palacios ISD Admin-
istration Building at 1209 12th
Street. The exhibit, sponsored by
the Institute of Texan Culture, is
entitled “Children From Many
Lands Came to-Texas” and may
- be seen between 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Palacios School District
brings- this exhibit and others
located in the Central Element-
- ary and Junior High Learning
Resource Centers to Palacios
school children and the public as
part of the district's fine arts/
guest lecturer series, “New
Horizons: Learning From Ameri-
ca’s Leaders".
The title of the exhibit on the
Centra! Elementary campus is
“Cowboys and Cattle Drives”
and at the junior high campus
"Scholars, Scoundrels and Sch-
oolteachers”. Contact the librar-
ian on each campus for informa-
tion on exhibits located in the
LRC.
