announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of
their daughter, Janet, to Gary Davidson, son of Sammy
and Jean Ann Davidson of Palacios. The wedding
ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. June 15, 1991 at the
Shearer Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio. A

Alzehimer’s Support Group
meets in Palacios June 11
The Alzheimer’s Support
Group, sponsored by the
Matagorda County Hospital Dis-
trict, will meet at 6:45 p.m.
Tuesday, June 11 at the home of
Mary Shecran, 204 S. Bay Blvd.
in Palacios. The format this time
includes a covered-dish salad
supper and each person attending
is asked to bring food.
The support group, which
normally meets in the Taylor
Conference Room at Matagorda
General Hospital in Bay City,
has changed its meeting day to
the second Tuesday of each
month, effective in June. The
group is open to all interested
persons.

KENNETH, JR.
Kenneth and Selina Garcia of Palacios became the proud parents
of a son, Kenneth Jr., bom at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 1991 at
Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
The new arrival weighed 6-lbs. and was 19-inchcs long.
Maternal grandparents are Louis and Stella Martino of Palacios
and paternal grandparents arc Edward Garcia and Antonia Garcia.
ROBERT "JIMMY" COX
Robert C. Jimmy " Cox, 69, of Pasadena, Texas passed away
May 27,1991 in the Vetcraas Hospital of Houston.
Mr. Cox was bom June 15, 1921 in Palacios to Robert Croon
Cox and Elizabeth Carter. He was afiliated with the Baptist
Church and was a veteran of World War II in the Army Air Force.
He is survived by two sisters, Vivian Allen of Pascdcna, Texas
and Gladys Vernon ol Lancaster, California, and several nieces
and nephews.
Services were held May 29. Officiating was Rev. Stacy
Houser. Herb Mayfield, Gene Allen, G.G. "Bud" Lawson, Roy
Lee Hogg, James Kruse, Fulton Lothridge and Cornel Prindlc
were pallbearers.

musical Celebrate Life! this Fri-
day (June 7) at 7:30 p.m. The
youth group from Wayside
Chapel Evangelical Free Church
in San Antonio will be
presenting the musical program.
The public is encouraged to
attend. A reception will follow
