NEW ARRIVALS
ADRIAN
Mr. and Mrs. David Lopez of
Palacios are the proud parents of
a son, Adrian, born June 13,1987
at 8:54 a.m. at Wagner General
Hospital.
The new arrival weighed in at
7-lbs., 4-oz. and was 22 inches
long.
LYNDSAY KARIN
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Luns-
mann of Houston are the proud
parents of a baby girl, Lyndsay
Karin, born June 5, 1987 at
Texas Women’s Hospital.
She weighed 8-Ibs., 14-qz. and
is 20 inches long. She is being
welcomed home by her three
year old sister, Leslie Kendale.
The maternal grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Buff-
aloe of Houston. Paternal grand-
father is Hans Lunsmann of
Hallettsville.
Great grandmother is Mrs.
Glenn Claybourn, formerly of
Palacios, now residing in Hous-
ton.

In last week’s obituary for Robert W. Koch, Jr. of Palacios
Robert William Koch, 63 of was inadvertently omitted as a
Palacios, the name of his son, survivor.

Funeral services for Toni S.
Roach, 79 of South Houston,
were held June 16 at 2 p.m. at St.
Anthony’s Catholic Church with
Rev. Rod Guierrmo officiating.
Interment followed at Palacios
Cemetery. A rosary was recited
June 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the
Palacios Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Roach was born July 20,
1907 in Victoria, the daughter of
Jus to and Mary Fuentes Sama-
rripa. She died June 14, 1987 at
Methodist Hospital in Houston.
A former resident of Palacios
for 45 years, Mrs. Roach had
been living in South Houston for
the past 15 years.
Survivors include her husband,
Walter P. Roach of South Hous-
ton; six daughters and sons-in-
law, Dalores and Jim Holloway of
Spring, Jo Ann and John Preston
CECILEG. GRANT ELDER
Funeral services for Mrs.
Cecile G. Grant Elder, 82 of
Palacios, were held June 13 at
the First Presbyterian Church at
11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Blanton
officiating. Interment followed at
Palacios Cemetery.
Mrs. Elder was born Oct. 24,
1904 in Kansas, the daughter of
Earl and Elizabeth Graham
Grant. She died June 12, 1987 at
Citizens Memorial Hospital in
Victoria.
She had been a resident of
Palacios since 1910. She gradu-
ated from Palacios High School
and attended Sam Houston State
University. She married Theo-
dore A. (Ted) Eider on Aug. 24,
1929. First and foremost she was
a homemaker. Her husband's
business as a construction engi-
neer took them to South America,
India and Nigeria, Africa where
she made a comfortable home
and discovered a Protestant
Church where they could worship
regularly.

Sausada and Beatrice Vargas,
both of Victoria; one brothers,
Elmo Trevino of Victoria; 26
grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her son, Walter Roach, on Jan.
30,1980.
Pallbearers were Craig Ward,
Chris Holloway, Kevin Ogden,
Joey Munro, Sean Seli, r.nd Mike
Roach. Honorary pallbearers
were Freddy Roach, Jr., Matt
Sell, and Chris Cowden.

was an active member of the
First Presbyterian Church where
she acted as Elder, the president
of her Circle and sang in the
choir.

Palacios; two sisters, Johnny
Jackman and Fern Drwin, both of
Houston; five sisters-in-law, Oli-
via Walters, Victoria Elder and
Estelle Alley, all of Palacios.
Jane Elder of Houston, and
Huldah Rees of Orange, TX;
three nieces, Peggy Lancaster of
Houston, Kyle Bushe of Jeff-
erson, Wisconsin and Mary
Sheeran of Palacios; one nephew,
Cliff Rees of Port Arthur; and
several great nieces and neph-
ews.
Pallbearers were great neph-
ews, Ted, Tom and Tim Lan-
caster, Henry and Ben Sheeran
and Dennis Young.
The Spring Valley Methodist
Church, Dallas, was the setting
Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. for
the marriage of Pamela Vivian
Rowe to Harold Thomas Hunt.
Rev. Bourdon Smith performed
the double ring ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph M. Rower of
Dallas and Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Hunt of Palacios.
A program of traditional wedd-
ing music was played by the
church organist and Scott Max-
well sang “The Wedding Song”,
“In This Very Room”, and "The
Lord's Prayer”.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was radiant in a
bridal gown of white bridal satin
trimmed with Alencon lace,
pearls, and Borealis sequins. The
long torso bodice dropped to a
very low back and was accen-
tuated with an open neckline and
short puff sleeves. The waistjine,
bodice front, and sleeves were
appliqued with Alencon lace that
had been reembroidered with
pearls and Borealis sequins. Two
tiny satin bows centered with
pearls defined each shoulder
line. The fully gathered skirt
swept into a graceful chapel
length train. A large satin bow
adorned the train. Her fingertip
veil of illusion fell from a'band of
pearls, Borealis sequins, and
Stephanotis.
The bride carried a cascade
bouquet of pin and white Mid-
night roses, Stephanotis, Star-
gazers and Baby’s Breath.
Kathy Rowe, San Francisco,
Ca., attended her sister as maid
of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelli
Huitt, sister of the groom, Bay
City; Mary Cass, Anne Baum,
and Corol Malone, all of Dallas;
Sandy Deloney, San Antonio; and
Shari Musser, Austin.
They were dressed alike in tea
length gowns of pink crystalline
organza over taffeta. The fitted
bodice rose on one side and this
unusual line was accentuated
with a diagonal panel of iiny
crushed organza pleats. i4t self
fabric bow and rose defines the
panel point. Short puff sleeves
helped to create the square
neckline, The fully gathered
circle skirt created a floating
effect to this elegant look. Each
carried a nosegay of pink roses,
Acolytes were Holly Whitley,
niece of the groom, Palacios and
Jane) Brown, Dallas.
Eddie Howard of San Marcos
#was the best man. Groomsmen
were Reid Whitley, nephew of
the groom, and Hank Huitt, both
of Palacios; J. Huitt, brother-in-
law of the groom, Bay City; Brent
Petersen, Waco; Scott Rernlin-
ger Houston; and Darren Smith,
Austin.
Serving as ushers were Paul
Hunt, Palacios, and Ronnie
Hunt, Wills Point, both cousins
of the groom.
Following the wedding cere-
mony a reception was held at the
Park City’s Club in Dallas.
Members of the houseparty were
Leslie Dowdey, Carolyn Algaier,
and Ginnie Hodges.
Following a wedding trip to
Jamaica, the couple will reside in
Palacios. The bride is a graduate
of Southwest State University,
San Marcos, and will be teaching
for P.I.S.D. this fall. The groom
graduated from the University of
Texas at Austin and is a farmer-
rancher in the Palacios area.
PARTIES AND SHOWERS
A miscellaneous shower was
held at The First Baptist Church,
Palacios. Hostesses were Patsy
Sells, Wanda Miller, Connie
Huitt, Charlotte Tucker, Teresa
Shimek, Letha Petersen, Barbara
Cunningham, Barbara Hamlin,
Dolly Hamlin, and Bettye Wells.
A kitchen shower at the Alpha
Delta Pi House in San Marcos
was hosted by the bride-elect’s
sorority sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Huitt honored
the bridal couple with a buffet
supper at their home in Bay City.
A personal shower was held in
Dallas. Hostesses were Corol
Malone and Mary Cass.
Anne Baum and Janel rown
were hostesses for a miscellan-
eous shower held in Dallas.
A kitchen and bathroom show-
er given by Cindy Venutra was
held in Dallas.
The bride-elect and her brides-
maids were honored with a
bridesmaid’s luncheon. The par-
ty was given by Elizabeth Rowe
and was held at her home in
Dallas.
