Kim Lee Jackson became
the bride of Glen Lee Barnett
on Saturday, December 29,
1979 at 2 o'clock in the
afternoon. Rev. Marcos Goh-
Ike solemnized the double ring
vows in Alamo Heights Baptist
Church, Port Lavaca, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. G.K. (Buck)
Jackson of Port Lavaca. The
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Billy W. Barnett of
Palacios.
Miss Sherry Dawdy,organ-
ist, played traditional wedding
selections and Mr. Mark Raw-
lings, soloist, sang “To Get To
You” and “V elcome To My
World.”
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose *
formal designer gown fashion-
ed of candelight quiana. The
princess style gown featured a
Queen Anne neckline and the
bodice was lavishly covered
with silk venise lace and
pearls. The long tapered slee-
ves ended in English net and
lace. The A-line skirt flowed
gently to form a chapel length
train which was edged with
scalloped venise lace with
matching lace motifs just
above the hemline.
A Juliet cap fashioned of
venise lace and pearls held the
fingertip length veil of lace
edged illusion. The veil was
borrowed from her sister.
She wore a diamond neck-
lace highlighted with the stone
\ from her maternal grandmo-
ther’s wedding ring and a rose
. ring centered with a diamond
from her paternal grandmo-
ther’s wedding ring.
She carried cascade of
Happiness roses, white came-
lies, gypsophillia and minia-
ture frosted pine cones with
touches of Noble fir and
candlelight lace.
Mrs. Leigh Burton of Port
Lavaca served as matron of
honcT. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Dawn Lopez, sister of the
'bride. Miss Linda McCiurkan
and Miss Danne Rawlings all
of Port Lavaca.
The attendants wore floor
length gowns of burgandy
quiana featuring a gathered
scoop neckline with blouson
overlay giving a capelet effect
over long tapered sleeves and
the skirts fell into soft crystal
pleats.
Their headdresses were
small clusters of flowers
matching their nosegays of
white camelias, burgandy mi-
niature carnations and frosted
cones with Noble fir greenery.
The mother of the bride and
groom each selected a grey
street length dress with cor-
sages of Happiness roses with
frosted miniature pine cones.
Jim Thompson of Palacios
served as best man. Grooms-
men were Kent Barnett, bro-
ther of the groom, of Old
Ocean, Gregory Ralph and
Scott Petcher both of Palacios.
Ushers were Mike Taylor
and Doug Taylor, cousins of
the bride, of El Campo and
Armando “Whitey” Lopez,
brother-in-law of the bride, of
Port Lavaca.
A reception followed the
wedding in the Fellowship
Hall.
Attending the bride’s book
was Miss Carol Franks of
Boling. House party members
included Miss Jill Taylor of
San Marcos, cousin of the
bride, Miss Sandra Durham,
Miss Debra McCiurkan and
Mrs. Terri Smith of Port
Lavaca and Mrs. Sarah Minter
of B.yan.
The bride selected a black
pant set with matching flora!
print blouse for wedding tra-
vel.
The couple will make their
home in Port Lavaca following
a wedding trip to San Marcos
and San Antonio.
The rehearsal dinner, host-
ed by the groom's parents,
was held in the Fellowship
Haii of Alamo Heights Baptist
Church.
The bride is a 1975 graduate
of Calhoun High School, Port
Lavaca, attended Victoria Ju-
nior College and Houston
Bap.ist University. She. is
employed by Jackson Photo-
graphy.
The groom is a 1973 gra-
duate of Palacios High School,
