A new addition to Tilson’s famous
line of Heritage homes was intro-
duced this week at the company’s
model home park located in Angle-
ton.
Called the "Victorian,” the new
model is an authentic version of
that famous Central Texas Victo-
rian style home that typified gra-
cious living in the Lone Star Stale
a half a century ago. According to
many representative, all of
lines and features of that

satisfy
the tastes of those who
i
truly appreciate tradition. Yet,
like all Tilson homes, this latest
addition will offer all of today’s
modem conveniences such as year
round air conditioning, kitchen ap-
pliances and,luxurious wall-to-wall
carpeting.
The “Victorian” will offer prospec-
tive purchasers a wide variety of
floor plan arrangements that in-
clude a 4 bedroom version with 214
baths and another that converts
the oversized garage into a 32’
game room.
Tilson is a home construction firm
that specializes in custom building
on the buyer’s property anywhere
in the greater Gulf Coast region.
Sometimes considered Old Fash-
ioned, Tilson still builds homes
from the ground up (board-by-
board, brick-by-brick, nail-by-natl)
which means the buyer can make
changes such as move doors, add
windows, etc. This also means The
Tilson Home buyer has a complete
selection of brick, carpeting, inte-
rior and exterior paint colors,
roofing and all of tnose finishing
touches that a custom home build-
er normally offers.
Tilson homes range in price from
$31,000 to more than $100,000
when built on the buyer’s proper-
ty. Complete information about
the “Victorian” and all other Til-
son homes may be obtained at
their Angleton office which is
located at 1128 S. Velasco.

EEA home helps Victoria couple
save on electric bills ‘without
giving up comfortable living.’
Mr and Mrs. Michael C.
Buchhorn of 905 Blyth, Vic-
toria, are glad they decided on
a home built to meet standards
of the Energy Efficiency Award
(EEA) program developed by
Central Power and Light
Company.
“We wanted to save money
on our electric bill, both in the
short and Jong run,” they say in
explaining their choice of EEA.
In addition, they “felt that with
the EEA standards we would
get better construction quality
. . . and use it as a good selling
tool when we sell our home.”
Now that they’ve been in their
house awhile, they’re in a good
position to evaluate
it. And they would
recommend an EEA
home to others "be-
cause it will save you
money on your oper-
ating expenses* and
the EEA standards do
not add much cost to
your basic house
construction."
i»--T-he Buchhorns
opted for a heat pump
for their all-electric
house, this high effi-
ciency equipment results
in lower operating ex-
penses for heating and
air conditioning. Other
energv-saving features in-
clude adequate insulation,
taping of outside seams be-
fore bricking, and caulking
and sealing to prevent
movement of air through
joints, holes and cracks.
What do they like best about
their EEA home?
“We like the lower bills we
receive without giving up com-
fortable living ” they write.
“We set our thermostat to keep
our two children comfortable
and our bill is still lower than
(for our previous) house. Our
old house, which used gas heat
and water heating, was about
800 square feel smaller and had
approximately the same total
energy bill as our new EEA
home.”
More details of the EEA plan
are outlined in a free booklet
available at your CPL office.
