$100 went to Fred Strauss with a
10- lb., 9-oz. catch. Cory Hols-
worth took third and $50 for
9-lbs., 9'/j-oz.
Vrazel came back to record the
heaviest stringer of trouts with a
weight of 25-lbs., 4-oz. which
won another $200.
For individual trout, Thomas
Bailey won $200 first place with
5-lbs., 11 -oz. followed by Vrazel
in second at 5-lbs., 5-oz. for $100
and Strauss in third at 3-lbs.,
IO'/j-oz. for $50. •
The Kubecka family dominat-
ed both the sheepshead and
drum categories. The $75 first
place money went to Dick
Kubecka with 4-lbs., 1 '/j-oz,
while Mark Kubecka took the $50
second place money with 3-lbs.,
11- oz. Dick claimed third and $25
with 2-lbs., 13-oz.
In drums, Mark got $75 for
first with 25-lbs., 14-oz. while
Dick had 21-lbs., 6‘/2-oz. for $50
second and 16-lbs., 12‘/2-oz. for
the $25 third place.
Young Amy Machacek sur-
prised her competition as she
landed a 5-lb., 4-oz. gafftop that
earned her $75 first place money.
Babs Heinrich of Houston took
$50 for second with a 5-pounder
while Tim Martin won $25 for
third with 4-lbs., 14-oz.
Dick Kubecka added another
$10 to his winnings by taking first
in flounder with 3-Ibs., 7-oz.
Byron Carr collected $50 for
second with 2-lbs., 15‘/2-oz. and
also $25 for tiiird with 2-lbs.,
8-oz.
In the tripletail category, Terry
Gilmer picked up $100 with one
weighing 13-lbs., 1-oz. Second
and $50 went to Vrazel with
12-lbs., 4-oz. and $25 for third to
Bruce Hensen with 12-lbs., 1-oz.
The $100 top money in the
open category went to Larry
Leschper whose ladyfish was
59.7-percent of the state record.
H. Harvey’s ladyfish was 54.9-
percent and won $50 while C. R.
Beck of Blessing took $25 for
third with a ladyfish 48.6-percent
of the state record.
In the Offshore Division, Jean-
ie Beard ot San Antonio earned
$300 with a 22-lb., 7-oz. king.
Second place and $150 went to
Fred Huitt, Jr. with one hitting
the scales at 22-lbs., 4-oz. Huitt
also locked up the $100 for third
with 19-lbs. 12-oz.
David Sikes won $300 for first
in dolphins with 4-lbs., 7-oz.
Second and $150 went to Chuck
Pederson with 2-lbs., 2‘/2-oz. and
Huitt got $25 for third with
2-lbs., 6-oz.
Bonitas were the only fish to
place in the open category.
Chuck Pederson’s catch was
40.4-percent of the state record
and earned $200. Huitt’s was
second at 39.8-percent and rece-
ived $75 while Pederson also took
third at 37.7-percent and receiv-
ed $50.
In the Youth Division, top
place for croakers went to
Bronson England at 8'/2-oz.
followed by Laura Strauss at
8-oz. and Mike Gonzales third at
7-oz.
Strauss won the blue crab with
15-oz. with Gonzales second at
ll'/i-oz. and Strauss also taking
third at ll'/i-oz.
Matt Bible swept the hard-
heads with 2-lbs., Vi-oi. for first,
1-lb., 8‘/2-oz. for second and
1-lb., 7‘/2-oz. for third.
In piggy perch, Jason Gibson
was first at 6-oz., Paige Tomas
second at 43/«-oz. and Bronson
England third at 4-oz.
Prizes and trophy in the Youth
Division were provided by Pala-
cios Sporting Goods. The Family
Division trophy was provided by
Hortense Wyatt. _
