A SKELETON of steel frame-
work Is all that remains of the
Palacios Recreation Center
after salvage crews removed
the remainder of the debris left
from the fire which destroyed
the facility earlier In the year.
The planning committee for
the Recreation Association,
which owns the Center, was
scheduled to meet Tnesdav
with contracting firms to get
estimates of costs per square
foot before selecting a design
for the new structure. Accord-
ing to Association president
Leonard Lamar, once a design
Is selected the Association will
go out for bids on the construc-

Cost of the memorial is $27,000.

least 19 names of Matagorda
County servicemen who lost their
lives in these four conflicts will

Woi 'd War 11, the Korean or Vietnam conflicts. '
Patriotic and Civic Organizations throughfout Matagorda County have lolned together to make this
lasting MSMQRI At * reality and the goal Is to have It In place and dedicated on November 11, 1907
MEMORIAL will be situated on the north side of the Matagorda County Courthouse square.
MSLP1 Plaase study the following list of young men for correct spelling, correct
war and any additions which should ba made. To be eligible for a name to be placed on the
MEMOR l AL, the young man or woman should have been a citizen of Matagorda County at the time of
enlistment and should have bean a casualty of World War I, World War 11, Korea and Vietnam con-
flicts.
NOTICE:
The PROMOTERS OF PATRIOTISM will meet Tuesday noon. August 18 at the Bay City
Chamber of Commerce Bldg, to approve the final engraving of names on the Matagorda
County War Memorial. The updated list we now have appears below. Any corrections
MUST be in before August 18.
