Museum window displays
feature items, gifts that
recall nostalgic Christmas
Looking back to an "Old Fashioned Palacios Christmas" is the
theme of the Palacios Area Historical Association's (PAHA) De-
cember window display at the Palacios Museum located at the
comer of 4th and Commerce Streets.
The windows bring back memories for the children and
Christmas for the adults of earlier days.
With a decorated Christmas tree donated by the Winn's Store,
one window's display includes a child's delight of toys. Included
is an old train set, dolls, teddy bear, castle, World War 1 toy sol-
diers, etc.
In the other window, the display includes items adults with a
different viewpoint possibly thought of as Christmas gifts. These
items include China dishes, a sewing machine, a toaster, a jug of
whiskey, clothing, etc. The decorated Christmas tree in this win-
dow was donated by Kathy Moore.
PAHA members Jacque Moore and Bonnie Kimball arc in
charge of the monthly museum window displays.
The December window displays is a way in which PAHA
wishes everyone in the Palacios area a very Merry Christmas.

concentration will be on

Railroad Park,” he said.
Chris Woll reported that there
has been good response to the
Christmas lighting contest,
which she said will be judged
from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m„ Dec. 18.
With a marine division included
in this year’s contest, Woll said
there arc already three entries in
that division.
Betty Scurlock reported on
next year’s chamber banquet,
currently scheduled for Feb. 1.
When Scurlock said she has not
been able to find a guest speaker
for the banquet, someone sug-
gested that the chamber invite the
Palace Singers from Palacios
High School to perform a con-
cert. At past banquets the Palace
Singers have been part of the
banquet’s entertainment. Ticket
prices for next year’s banquet
will be the same as this year, $10
in advance or $ 12.50 at the door.
As reported at last month’s
regular meeting, Myra Brhlik
told the crowd how the sign
welcoming people to Palacios
has been completed.
"As soon as it (sign) is up
let's get everybody out there,”
said Chamber President Don
Landry, who was very excited
about the new sign.
A first attempt to put up the
sign was unsuccessful because it
rained. However, once the sign
is put up, Brhlik said emblems
from local organizations will be
placed on it.
