The Vocational Industrial
Clubs of America Club of
Palacios High School cosme-
tology deepartment met Sept-
ember 10th for the election of
new officers.
Officers elected are as fol-
lows: president, Belinda Cer-
da; vice president, Maria Or
tiz; secretary, Theresa Garcia;
treasurer, Julia Gonzales; re-
porter, Tommie Sanders; par-
liamentarian, Mary Tobias and
sergeant at arms, Nita Rodri-
guez.
The club members dis-
cussed ways of raising money
for club activities for the
coming year. It was decided to
bring all money making sug-
gestions to the next meeting
and it will be voted on at that
timne.
The following members
were elected to serve on the
refreshment committee for
this club year, Renalyn Curtis,
Virginia Ottino and Maria
Segovia.
SCHOOL MENU
ELEMENTARY
SEPT. 29 - OCT. 3
MONDAY - meat loaf,can-
died yams, tossed salad, bread
milk and peanut butter cook-
ies.
TUESDAY - frito pie, pinto
beans, cole slaw, fruited jellb,
cornbread, butter and milk.
WEDNESDAY - cheesebur-
ger, tater tots, lettuce, toma-
toes, onions, milk and fruit
cobbler.
THURSDAY - fried chicken,
whipped potatoes, English
peas, applesauce, hot rolls,
butter, milk and ice cream.
FRIDAY - tuna salad on
lettuce leaf, chilled tomatoes,
blackeyed peas, bread, milk
and cinnamon rolls.
SECONDARY
MONDAY - corn dog, baked
beans, lettuce and tomato
salad, milk and fruit cobbler.
TUESDAY - frito pie, pinto
beans, cole slaw, fruited jello,
bread, butter and milk.
WEDNESDAY - cheesebur-
ger, french fries, lettuce, to-
matoes and onions, milk and
fruit half.
THURSDAY - steak burger,
tater tots, tossed salad, milk,
applesauce and ice cream.
FRIDAY - Ham and cheese
sandwich, french fries, green
beans, milk and fruit kalachi.
The JV Sharkettes won their
second volleyball match of the
season by bouncing Wharton
15-2, 15-4.
The Junior Varsity was led
by setter Lisa Hamlin scoring
17 points. Anette Uher helped
by serving 7 more points.
Cheryl McMullen, Charlette
Schneider and Nancy Ander-
son added the finishing
touches with 2, 3 and 1 point
respectively. The Junior var-
sity stayed on the offense most
of the match by getting good
sets from Uher, Schneider,
Bannert and Smith. Spikers
who did a good job with the
sets were Anderson, Jewell
and McMullen.
The Sharkette Varsity con-
tinued their winning ways by
defeating Wharton 15-2 and
15-8. Linda Hunt was to point
getter by serving 9 points with
Lucille Holloway and Patricia
DeLeon each adding 5 each.
Jessie Polk, Cheryl Henson
and Nell Collins added 4, 3 and
3 respectively. Varsity girls
looked better in their second
game with the biggest im-
provement coming on the of-
fense. Better ball control was
used and the serving was
consistent. Debbie Polk and
Lucille Holloway led the of-
fense with good strong spikes.
Golfing Gossip
Due to rain and more rain,
the golf course has been
looking like a hay meadow and
the par shooters have been
pretty let down, but it is now in
good shape. The weather is
geting cooler so come on out,
let’s get to playing golf again.
Results of the Best Ball
tournament held Sunday,
Sept. 21, which 32 players
participated in were: first
place with minus 8, Tommy
Breshers of Ganado, Ed Du-
mas, Tommy Summerlan of
Aransas Pass and Gilbert
Yanes of Victoria; second
place with a nimus 6, Leroy
Breshers, Ganado, Ed Col-
lins. B. W. King and Dick
Moore, Houston.
Myra Brhlik and Margaret
Dumas won first place in the
first flight of the Hatch Bend
Country Club annual Ladies
Hoe Down tournament, played
Saturday and Sunday.
The Sharkettes played the
Tigerettes from Tidehaven
Tuesday night and on the
following Tuesday wiil play
Austwell-Tivoli. Help support
the Sharkettes.

The Matagorda County 4-H
Council meeting was held
Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
The members of the council
elected new officers for 1975-
76.
They are as follows: Renee
Coale, president; Jim Coale,
boys’ vice president; Tammy
Petersen, girls' vice president;
Kathy Petering, secretary;
Koy Coffer, treasurer; Paige
Livingston and Matt Coale,
reporters; Bruce Krenek and
Angie Coale, recreation.
The meetings will be held
the first Monday of each
month.

Jimmy and Alice Fitzgerald
are the parents of a baby
daughter, Wenona Jean, bom
September 15 at Long Beach,
Calif.
She weighed five pounds
eight ounces.
Welcoming the new arrival
are her brothers, J. J. and
Bishop and her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Rogers of
Palacios, B. L. Nordin of
Pasadena and Mrs. Minnie
Fay Fitzgerald of Blessing.
The mother will be remem-
bered as the former Alice
Nordin.
The Zeta Alpha Chapter of
the Delta Kappa Gamma So-
ciety held its September meet-
ing in Bay City at the lovely
home of Jean Huebner on
Saturday, September 13. This
was a morning meeting at
9:30. An executive board
meeting was held at 9 a.m.
The meeting was called to
order by President Evelyn
Johnson of Bay City. The
devotional was led by Jean
McLeod. The treasurer's re-
port was given by Hortense
Wyatt. The program was pre-
sented by President Evelyn
Johnson and First Vice-Presi-
dent Laura Curtis.
Slides were shown of their
trip to Hawaii where they
attended the International
Conference of the Delta Kappa
Gamma Society. The program
was entitled "I Can’t Believe
We Did the Whole Thing".
Members from the Palacios
and Blessing area that at-
tended the meeting were:

surprised to see Fay Hattox of
Austin, formerly of Palacios,
at the meeting.

Selcer, Maxine Brice, Betty
Swift, and Lorraine Renfro.
