BENJY BOOKWORM here,
enjoying the first cool weather
of Autumn. This doesn’t mean
that the hot weather is gone
for good, but maybe it won’t
be so intense, or last much
longer.
Haven’t told you about some
of our newest books in several
weeks, so you might be inter-
ested in the following: ‘‘Al-
ways on the Run ” by the Larry
Csonka and Jim Kiick; “Brian
Piccolo”, by Jeannie Morris;
“The Many Faces of Slavery”
by Israel E. Levine; “The
House on Garabaldi St.” by
Isser Harel, the first full
account of the capture of Adolf
Eichmann, told by the former
head of Israel’s Secret Ser-
vice; "God’s Dog”, a fascina-
ting account of the elusive
coyote, much-maligned wild
canine; “Grosset’s Complete
Guide to Collectible Plates” by
H. L. Cohen; "The Car Solu-
tion”, the steam engine comes
of Age, by Gary Levine; and
“Gideon, a Boy Who Hates
Learning In School” by Gladys
Natchez. Only one fiction
caught my eye: "Pride of the
Bimbos” by John Sayles,
which looks like one that will
bring you lots of laughs.
With the end of the month
drawing nigh, we are wracking
our brains trying to think of a
new exhibit, something which
will appeal to the general
public. Our display of photo-
graphs has brought a great
deal of compliments and
praise, and everyone who has
seen it thinks it is just great.
However, it is time to return
all the pictures to their rightful
owners with a hearty “Thank
you!" and get ready for a new
display. Now how about giving
a little assistance. We need
your valuable opinion on what
kind of collection you would
like to see next on display.
Next time you are in the
library, or you can call on the
phone, and let us know your
ideas. We will appreciate your
help.
Thanks!
Mr and Mrs. Wells
celebrate fiftieth
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Wells
celebrated their fiftieth year of
marriage with a golden wed-
ding reception Sunday after-
noon from 2 to 5 o'clock at the
Mopac House in Collegeport.
Hosting the anniversary
courtesy were their two daugh-
ters and their families, Mr.
and Mrs. Dean Merck and
sons, Mark, Russell and Galen
of League City and Mr. and
Mrs. c. w. rhymes and daugh-
ter, Stefani, of Bay City.
The honorees and children
greeted relatives and friends
at the door of the community
hall.
Mrs, Wells chose for the
occasion a long pink gown.
Her daughters and grand-
daughter were attired in long
blue gowns.
The many relatives and
friends who came to extend
their congratulations and best
wishes were registered by
Mrs. Robert Ellis.
The anniversary table, laid
with white satin overlaid with
net and decorated with gold
streamers and an arrangement
of gold carnations, was cen-
tered with the three tiered
white cake topped with a
miniature bride and groom.
An ecru cloth covered the
coffee table which held the
coffee service and a German
chocolate cake decorated with
a fishing scene.
Another table, laid with a
white cloth, was centered with
a covered wagon and held
their wedding certificate and
clippings of their wedding.
