Applications may be filled out at the Mata-
gorda County Annex Building,405 Commerce
in Palacios on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9
a.m.- 12-noon and at the Palacios Area Fund,
458 Commerce any weekday from 8 a.m.-5
p.m.
Referrals from reputable and creditable
sources will be served, but clients registering
themselves will be subject to established need
and available resources.
Operation Santa Claus is also looking for
volunteers to help make the project possible.
Pick-ups, packers, wrappers, sorters, and other
helpers arc desperately needed, said Ripke.
Elves looking for work that pays in Christ-
mas cheer and a few cookies are urged to
contact Ripke at 972-3960.

"We estimate that as many as
150,000 annual sales tax filers
collected no sales tax in 1996.
If they owe no sales tax, there’s
no reason to burden them with
filling out a tax return. These
business owners could easily
fulfill their reporting require-
ment with a phone call to 1-
800-531-1441," Sharp said.
