have organized a gun club
with eight members there are
more who will join. The first
trap shoot was held at the
Oriental Park last Sunday af-
ternoon, the percentage of hits

Mrs. Abe Pair who underwent
an operation of appendicitis in
Yoakum Hospital' Sunday is
doing nicely.
We are sorry to report the
death of Mrs. Joe Matejek
who died at her home Friday
at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
She was born in Moravia, Aus-
tria 37 years ago. She came
with her husband to this coun-
try about 15 years ago her
maiden name was Christina
Holub. She leaves to mourn her
death a sorrowing husband and
ten small children the oldest
16 years and the youngest age
2 years. Funeral services were
held Sunday morning at 9:30
with burial in Koerth Catholic
cemetery. May she rest in
peace.
Rev. G. Kuratko Mr. and
Mrs. Emil Jalufka and daugh-
ter left Sunday via auto for
Old Mexico to spend the week
on pleasure trip.
Tom Hermes who is em-
ployed in the shops at Child-
ress came in last week to spend

The dance at Mr. R. O.
Krause’s near Shiner was well
attended everybody reports a
nice time. Refreshments of
cream and sandwiches were
served. Dancing was enjoyed
till a late hour when the guests
departed wishing Mr. Krause
many more happy birthdays.
Mr. C. B. Wiley was a busi-
ness visitor in Shiner Friday.
The Apostolic meeting that
is being held in Yoakum now
seems to be well attended.
They have large crowds every
night and it has been going on
two weeks.
Mr. Jno Baros of Shiner was
a visitor at Gonzales one day
last week.
The school program at Har-
wood was fine, a large crowd
from Hamon and Hochheim at-
tended making the trip by
truck. As ever.

We had a sand storm which
struck here Monday morning
about 9 o’clock, but was very
little rain. Most of the people
are busy chopping cotton.

day morning which caused
quite an excitement.
