Robinson apparently found the
footing on the Hitchcock field to
his liking as he exploded for
162-yards on 29 carries and
tallied three touchdowns in the
Sharks’ come-from-behind win.
Hooker meanwhile got the Pala-
cios passing game back into gear,
connecting on 11 of 17 attempts
for 127-yards and two tallies.
Both scoring tosses went to Kevii
Dailey.
While the Shark offense took
over the limelight, the normally
tough defense appeared to have
trouble getting their act together.
The Sharks allowed the Bulldogs
to ramble for 289 yards. Fortun-
ately the Bulldogs proved to be
their won worst enemy, getting
slapped for 12 penalties amount-
int to 130-yards of real estate.
For the third straight game the
Sharks were knocked for a loop
right at the start of the contest. It
took the Bulldogs only one play
after the kickoff to jump out in
front when Craig Browe broke
through the line and raced
85-yards for a touchdown to make

it 6-0.
It was not until later in the
period that the Sharks managed
to make up the difference when
Robinson entered the endzone.
With no intention of recording
their fourth tie of the season,
Palacios promptly kept up the
scoring barrage. Kevin Dailey
hauled in the first of his two
touchdown passes from Hooker
from the 11. Robinson then
struck once again to make it 18-6.
After Terry Smith provided the
Bulldogs with a six-yard tally,
Palacios widened the gap at the
half to 25-13 on a five-yard pass
from Hooker to Dailey and Blaine
Anthony booted the point after.
The Shark defense came to life
in the third by blocking a
Hitchock punt and recovering the
loose ball in the endzone for a
two-point safety. Robinson pick-
ed up his final touchdown on a
short-yardage effort in the fourth
period before Hitchcock got the
final word on a 36-yard run by
Charles Davis.
Oscar Giles led in the receiving
category with\three receptions
for 46 yards. Brune caught two
for 44 yards and Dailey netted 33
yards.
The loss left Hitchcock winless
in league play at 1-7 overall.
Boling did not wait until
Halloween to give Sweeny a
genuine scare. Jerry Waddy
produced two touchdowns for
Boling, but a missed extra point
and a fourth quarter fumble left
the team short of a major upset
victory.
Waddy’s first score came in
the second period on a 30-yard
run with Juan Garza adding the
extra point. Sweeny evened the
score before halftime with a
15-yard pass from Bret Simpson
to Jarvis Helms. John Mabe
made good the extra point
attempt.
The Boling squad broke away
in the third with Waddy turning
on the speed for a 77-yard tally.
Garza’s missed point after left
the score at 13-7. Taking
advantage of a fumble in the
fourth, Sweeny’s Jay Pyssen,
who rushed for' 14S yards,
crossed in from one-yard out.
Mabe came in and again made
the point after for the winning
edge.
Boling dropped to 4-3-1 overall
and 1-1-1 in district. Sweeny
remains unbeaten at 8-0.
In the only other league game,
Van Vleck shutout Needville
34-0. The Bluejays were limited
to just two first downs and
20-total yards offense and comm-
itted five turnouvers. The Leo-
pards Robert Johnson scored two
rushing and one passing touch-
downs.

COACHES Bob White and
Ricky Moffitt have a sideline
conference with part of the
JV-Freshmen Shark brigade
daring a recent game. Al-
though both squads were idle
last week, they are scheduled
to see action at Boling on
Thursday. The varsity Sharks,
who dealt Hitchcock a 34-19
blow last week, entertains

night. The vanity is 4-1-3 on
the season. [Beacon Photo by

Sharkettes fall to
Boling in finale
The Boling Bulldogs closed out
the 1984 volleyball season last
week by handing both the varsity
and junior varsity Sharkettes
loses. The varsity fell 6-15, 14-16
while the .IV squad Inst 13,15
8-15.
“I feel the season was a very
good one,” commented coach
Donna Boehm whose varsity girls
compiled a 17-11 record. "On the
varsity team we will be losing
three fine seniors in Eloise
Segovia, Yannet Foote and Dina
Flores. If we can keep everybody
in the program and add in the
current 8th grade team the
Sharkettes can look forward to
another successful season next
year.”
Boehm said both her teams
want to express appreciation to
Katrina Cheshire who gave 100-
percent as team manager.
The JV girls finished at the
.500-mark with an 11-11 record.
Tidehaven tangle
ends in 6-6 standoff
The Tidehaven Tigers and the
Danbury Panthers traded a bas-
ketfull of fumbles, but in the end
nothing wad decided as the two
district rivals emerged with a 6-6
deadlock last week.
The Tigers, who evened their
league chart at 1-1-1, will travel
to Brazos this Friday. For
Danbury, the no-decision put the
Panthers at 2-0-1.
Fumbles on the wet. muddy
ground led to both team's
touchdowns but also prevented
other scoring opportunities. The
Tigers used a fumble recovery by
Vincent Galvan at the Panther 40
in the second period to take the
lead that lasted until the final
period. The six-play drive was
capped as signal caller John
Reyes lofted a 15-yard pass to
Kevin Wilson.-
After missing out on a sure-fire
scoring shot due to a fumble in
the fourth, the Panthers finally
turned the tables on Tidehaven
later in the period. The Tigers
mishandled the pigskin at the
Danbury 33 and five plays later
the Panthers sent Brian McGree
in from 15-yards out to knot the
score. The point after attempt
failed, leaving the final at 6-6.
