Sharks rally past
Cowboys, 8-7, for
first district win
The Palacios Sharks broke the district win barrier last Thurs-
day as a four-run seventh inning rally, combined with solid
pitching, sparked the coach James Harp’s crew to an 8-7 victory
over Edna.
The win lifted Palacios to 4-11 overall and 1-3 In district play.
The Sharks were scheduled to host Hitchcock at 6 p.m. Tuesday
(April 19) and remain at home for a 7:30 contest this Friday
(April 22) against Needville.
Paul Remlinger ignited the Sharks' offensive attack, going 4-
for-5 at the plate with 3 RBls, Brent Kunefke (3-4) got the win
for Palacios, giving up just one hit (an infield single) and fanning
six in the final three innings in relief of starter Wade Kubecka.
The Cowboys tagged Kubecka for seven runs, four of which were
earned, in four innings of work.
Palacios, which committed five errors on the night, smacked
10 hits against Edna.
The Sharks grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first on a single by Jason
Barker, a walk to Adrian Flores and an RBI fielder’s choice by
Remlinger. With two outs, Kunefke reached on a walk followed
by a balk to tally Flores. Jason Novak then send Kunefke home
with a single.
The Cowboys galloped back in their half of the inning to knot
the score at 3-3 and then took the lead, 7-3, with a run in the
fourth and two more in the fourth.
Palacios picked up a run in the fifth when Remlinger recorded

sive four run attack in the seventh to stun the Cowboys. Palacios
loaded the bases on when Kunefke walked, Novak was hit by a
pitch and Diaz drew a walk. Eric Gonzales then singled to score
Kunelke and Novak to cut the deficit to 7-6. A squeeze bunt by
Kubecka brought Diaz in with the tying run before Gonzales de-
livered the game winning hit to score Remlinger.
“Overall we look good. U wasn’t necessarily a clean game
with the five errors we committed.” said Harp. “The pitching
was good and that was definitely a key.”
