Fills pulpit
Filling the pulpit of the First
Presbyterian Curch of Palacios
next Sunday, August 14, at
11:00 a.m., will be Dr, George
Mauzeof Rock part, Texas. Dr.
Mauze was pastor of the First
Presbyterian Church of San
Antonio for 20 years.
The Rev. Leslie Webb, pastor
of the Palacios Church is on
vacation in Florida with his
family. He expects to return to
the pulpit August 28.

Miss Susan Sorv of Sherman
and Frank Paul BrHlik,' Jr. of
Lake Jackson were married
Saturday August f>, 1977 at
7:30 in the evening in Sher-
man, Texas. The double-ring
ceremony was performed by
Reverend Michael Flanagan,
pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Sory
of 1609 Shields Drive in
Sherman. She graduated from
Sherman High School and
Texas Tech University in Lub-
bock where she was a mamber
of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She has been employed by the
Houston Independent School
District.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Brhlik
of Palacios. He graduated
from Palacios High School and
Sam Houston State University
where he was a member ol
Kappa Alpha social fraternity.
The church was decorated
with mixed white flower ar-
rangements, palms and
candles on the altar. The pews
were marked with votive
candles and greenery down
the center aisle.
Escorted and given in mar-
riage by her father, the bride
wore a fomal gown of ivory
organza from llissa. Fashioned
.with a Queen Anne deed-
etage, the fitted bodice was
completely appliqued with re-
embroidered Alencon lace and
[tiny bridal pearls. The lace
extended over the shoulders of
.The tapered sleeves, which
•ended in a deep band of lace
'covering the wrists. From the
empire waistline, the semi-A
line shirt fell to slipper length.
A deep border of the lace
extended into a chapel length
train. The veil was attached to
a raised lace cap. Two tiers of
illusion, one shoulder length
and one extending beyond the
train, flowed over the gown.
The cap had scattered bridal
pearls, and each tier of illusion
was completely edged in
pearls.
The bridal bouquet was a
cascade of white roses, steph-
anotis, babies breath, and
English ivy. A gold wedding
band, belonging to the bride's
great grandmother was at-
tached to the bouquet.
Attendents for the bride were
Mrs. Marc Inman of Dallas,
matron of honor and Miss
Terri Callins of Houston, maid
of honor. Bridemaids were:
Mrs. Keith Champman of
Georgetown, Mrs. Robert ]
Powitzky of Gaithersburg
I Maryland, Mrs. Thomas
Wainscott of Lubbock, Miss
1 Nancy Sory of Dallas and Miss
| Janet Brown of Houston.
Kelli Sory of Midlothian was
I flower girl and Chris Ploetz
[served as ring bearer.
Best man was Rusty Brhlik,
.brother of the groom of
Houston. Groomsmen were:

bride, of Athens, Larry Baird
of Houston, William Craig
Holt of Palacios, George
Whashington of Huntsville,
Mike Bricker of Houston, Mike
Doyle of Austin, Allen Wright
of Alvin, and Dick Natalie of
Conroe served as ushers.
Wedding music was present-
ed by Mrs. Rudolph Inman of
Sherman, organist and soloist
was Mrs. Wilson Blurton 'of
Sherman.
A reception was held at the
Holiday Inn following the
ceremony with the bride’s
parents as hosts.

included Mrs. Hank Sory of
Athens, Mrs. Jodie Sory of
Midlothian, Miss Kathy Onley
of Oklahoma City, Mrs. H.B.
Onley and Mrs. Wally Bader
of Sherman, Mrs. Mike Bruce

Claude, Mrs. Dick Natalie of
Conroe, Mrs. William Craig
Holt of Palacios, Miss Glenda

After a wedding trip to
Acapulco, Mexico, the couple
will be at home in Lake
Jackson where the groom is
employed by Metal Goods,
Inc., and the bride is employed
by the Brazosport Independent
School District.
The bridegroom’s parents
were hosts to a rehearsal
dinner Friday at the Point Club
in Sherman. •
A bridesmaids luncheon was
held the day of the wedding at
the Ramada Inn in Sherman.
Hostesses for the occasion
were Mrs. H.B. Onley, Mrs.
Robert Waldo, Mrs, Jim De-
nnis and Miss Kathv Onlev.
