Sociology and Mathematics for
Elementary Teachers have
been scheduled at Bay City
High School with late regis-
trants accepted through Sept-
ember 10.
Interested persons may late
register by coming to the
Registrar's office, Wharton
County Junior College, 911
Boling Highway, 8:00 a.m.
until 4:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday; or you may
register directly with the
instructor at any regularly
scheduled class meeting.
A $5 fee is charged for
individuals who register late in
addition to regular tuition
charges.

exempt. If he fails to raise his
grade the exam will not count
against him.
9. No six weeks or quarter
exams will be given a second
time if a student fails or makes
a poor grade on the first
attempt.
10. The second six weeks of
each quarter must be passed
in order to receive credit for
the quarter. The third quarter
must be passed in order to
receive credit for a full year
course.
II. Three grade points must
be earned to receive a quarter
credit and nine grade points
for a full year course. At least
three of these grade points will
be earned the last quarter
before credit will be given for
the entire year (3 quarters).
Grade Points will be given as
follows: A-4, B-3, C-2. D-l,
F-0.
12. Any quarter that is failed
may be made up if necessary,
by Summer School or Corres-
pondence, if completed before
the following school year
begins. Otherwise the entire
course that was failed must be
repeated.
13. A student must be in
attendance 70 percent of the
quarter to receive credit. This
may be amended by the
Administration if necessary.
14. All absences during the six
weeks or quarter tests, will
require a doctor’s excuse.
15. Unsatisfactory Progress
Reports will be sent to the
parents at the end of the third
and ninth weeks of each
quarter.
16. Report Cards will be given
to the student on Thursday
following the end of the first
six weeks and at the end of the
quarter.
Project show set
The Palacios Project Show
will be held February 24 and
25, 1977. Students enrolled in
a science class will be required
to make a science project.
The following policies have
been set-up-for-tbe students.
1. All students must turn in
a progress report one week
before the six weeks test of the
Second Quarter. This report
will count as a major test grade
and be kept on file during the
school year.
2. All projects will count 1/4
of the six weeks grade of the
Third Quarter. They will be
brought to school on February
10, 1977.
3. No student will be forced
to take his or her project to the
show.
Science students should
begin now in order to develop
a good project.
WCJC enrollment
to exceed 2200
Students can register
through Thursday of this week
at Wharton County Junior
College in Wharton where
early registration counts point
to a Fall enrollment that could
exceed last year’s record 2200.
This compares to the 200
students who began classroom
instruction in September,
1946. The college will officially
observe its 30th anniversary
September 24 at 10 a.m.
1976 Fall Semester classes
start Monday, August 30.
Faculty members and coun-
selors will be on duty through
Thursday, August 26 from
8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to
register students and assist
them in^their class schedules.
Faculty workshops conclude
Friday, August 27 with a
coffee honoring Mitchel Gross-
man, president-elect of the
Texas Junior College Teachers
Association.
Schedule changes may be
made September 1-3. Sept-
ember 3 is the last date to
register for a full load of
courses or to add new ones.
The final day to register for a
part load is September 10.

This fall marks the beginning
of WCJC's fourth decade of
post-secondary education for
the community service area.
The college provides a modern
institutional setting for stu-
dents seeking the two - year
associate degree in either ap-
plied science or arts. The
Division of Occupational Edu-
cation offers a variety of cour-
ses that mix theory and
practice to train craftsmen in
many skills.
A national survey in two •
year colleges recently reported
that 63 percent of students
were dissatisfied with their
career planning.
WCJC has responded by
establishing a new Career
Center that provides career
education counseling and a
program that assists students
who want to develop their own
realistic goals in life.
