The order in which Palacios 1SD employees can use their local
sick leave and state personal leave remains uncertain after P1SP
Board of Trustees tabled the item at last week’s regular school
board meeting.
: Last month, trustees approved to accept four sections of the
policy, with additional study to Sections 4 and B. Those proposed
changes to the "Employee Leaves and Absences” included
using state personal leave after three days of local sick leave is
used. After that, the policy stated, state leave will be used until it
is exhausted, followed by the remainder of the employee’s local
sick leave. u*.
>;State personal leave, if not used by an employee can ac-
cumulate to the point where an employee can retire one year
early.
Previously, employees could use up their local sick leave be-
fore having to dip into the state leave.
~ The board also approved the following items of business:
.; • One bid for a new intercom system at Palacios Junior High
c was received from B.G. Systems, Inc. of Houston in the amount
,ofc $14,900. Trustees voted td accept the bid.
• A budget amendment to transfer money from fund balance
.to, the maintenance budget to cover the cost of 60 window air-
cpnditioning units and the cost of applying a protective coating
‘(Beachunit ~ x !
; v At the November meeting trustees approved the purchase of
the units from Carrier of San Antonio for 251,000. The units are
part of PISD’s five-year capitol improvement plan, and were
planned to be paid for out of the district’s fund balance.
