After winning the opener 3-1
in the Class A AAA bi-district
playoffs last week, the R. I,. Tur-
ner Lions were defeated in a twin-
bill last Thursday by John Tyler
in Tyler, 3-0 and 5-2.
The ’losses eliminated the Lions
from further state baseball play.
In the first game, at Lion Stadi-
um., the locals edged John Tyler
on a five-hitter by Tommy Good.
The Lions only collected two libs
i in the game.
! At Tyler, Danny Shields pitched
a one-hitter against the Lions—a
single by Gamble, to win handily
after his mates collected five hits
off of two Lion hurlers.
j In the second game, the Lions
scored two runs on two hits while
Tyler go! five runs on five blows.
The Lions got both runs in the
last inning when Cliff Landers
j and Hector Montero walked and

TO THE EDITOR:
There is a piece of land two |
miles west of Stemmons on the
right side of Valley View that for
two weeks in the summer is an
outdoor haven for 600 Girl Scouts.
This land is donated for use by
these girls by a very wonderful
person who cares. There are 100
mothers there to guide these girls
because they care. The City of
Farmers Branch has helped in
many ways because they care. But
do the people care?
They use this area for a garage
and trash dump. When “Posted
signs are put up they are stolen.
Signs and flags to mark the site
are put up one day and gone the
next. People are dumping trash
there as fast as the City can pick
it up.
i But we feel that if the people
knew what this little piece of land
means to these little girls they
too would care. Can you help?

TUESDAY
is the day of decision!
IF DALLAS COUNTY IS TO
CONTINUE TO GROW AND PROSPER
WE MUST FACE REALITY
WE MUST VOTE YES FOR THE
AIRPORT WE MUST HAVE!
Distribution, transportation and communication made Dallas County what
it is today. Your vote FOR the Regional Airport will assure continued
growth and prosperity. Your vote against will result in losses of business
and industry and will mean a long step backwards.
"FOR”! Means your property will be worth more.
"AGAINST”! Means we start backwards.
YOURS IS THE CHOICE!
How much will the airport cost? TAXPAYF.RS DON’T PAY FOR
AIRPORTS. AIR TRAVELERS AND THE AIRLINES PAY THE
TAXPAYER.
The airport will be built by Federal aid and through Revenue Ronds to
be paid off through airline leases, and money from concessions. Taxpayers
will be levied only 15< a hundred of assessed valuation and this for a period
of seven years only. This money is for the purchase of land and small interim
expenses, and that’s all! The new airport will attract additional major
industries, will crc^Tthousands of new jobs, and the property you own
will be worth more!
TOTE "YES” TUESDAY FOR THE AIRPORT WE NEED
AND MUST HAVE
