R. L. Turner High School PTA
met Monday, February 4, at 7:30
p.m. with Mrs. K. W. Kenvp pre-
siding. Mrs. Kemp has been elected
president to fill the unexpired
term of Mrs. Dub Thompson,
whose resignation has been ac-
cepted with regret.
Other officers elected to serve
the remainder of the year are
Mrs. Jack E. Blanton, parliamen-
tarian, and Mrs. Bill Sumner, char-
acter and spiritual chairman.
The inspirational on ‘‘Our Amer-
ican Heritage” was given by Ben
C. Cooner, history teacher.
A nominating committee was
elected to present a slate of offi-
cers for next year to the March
general meeting for consideration.
This committee is Mrs. Robert
Souter, chairman, Mrs. E. C. Beach,
Mrs. John L. Mitchell, Mrs. G. A.
Salmon, Dale B Davis with Mrs.
C. A. Good and Mrs. Jack Blanton
as alternates.
A highlight of the evening was
the presentation of the unit’s
Texas Life Membership in the
Parent - Teacher Association to
Mrs. Ktmp in appreciation of her
years of service in the PTA. The
presentation was made by Dale B.
Davis, principal.
Mrs. John L. Mitchell, vice-
president, introduced Hurshel
Farrow, speech and drama teach-
er, who directed the most delight-
ful and entrtaining skit on Citi-
zenship. The cast was composed of
the following students:
Barbara Stedham. Liz Rodriquez,
Gloria Eehles. Dennis Sohrag, Joe
Allen, Jan Sanford, Diane Ander-
son, Paul Chambers, Carol Jordan,
Robert Whitis, Paul Snodgres,
Linda Little, Johnie Brisendine,
Mike Henegar and Cynthia
Chaney.
A social period with refresh-
ments was enjoyed following the
meeting.

VALWOOD PRE-SCHOOL
PTA NEWS

The Valwood Pre-School PTA
will meet Thursday, February 21,
in the Friendship Room of the
Dallas Federal Savings and Loan
Building. Coffee will be served
from 9:30 a.m. and the meeting
will begin at 10.
Nursery will be provided at the
Covenant Presbyterian Church,
1700 -South Josey Lane.
Guest speaker will be Miss King
of KERA-TV, Channel 13, who
'-will speak on “Educational TV for
the Family."
Station KERA works closely
with the public schools for an ex-
tensive in-school broadcast sched-
ule. Through an affiliation with
the National Educational Televi-
sion and Radio Center, KERA also
offers cultural and fine arts pro-
grams during the evening hours of
broadcast.

The Till and Toil Garden Club
held its meeting Wednesday, Feb-
ruary 6, in the Friendship Room of
the Dallas Federal Savings and
Loan Building.
The business meeting was con-
ducted by Vice-president Mrs.
Charles Joslin. A resolution was
passed that club members attend
the Dallas Garden Center Flower
Show as a group. A date will be
set at next month’s meeting.
Placements were drawn for the
club’s flower show to be held
April 18.
It was also voted that each
member bring a growing bulb in
decorated containers to the March
meeting.
The theme for February being
“After You’re Gone,’ a very inter-
esting talk was given by Joe Hil-
ger, He spoke on pruning and in-
sect control followed by questions
from the members.
Serving refreshments from a
Valentine Table were this months
hostesses, Mrs, Joslin and Mrs.
Deal Richardson.

The February meeting of The
Farmers Branch Garden Club was
held February 7 at 9:45 a.m. in
the home of Mrs, E. C. Walker
with Mrs. C. D. McClure as co-
hostess.
Mrs. Tom Chisholm, nationally
accredited flower show judge, con-
ducted a workshop emphasizing
“Containers, Mechanics and Ar-
rangements.” Her expert knowl-
edge and craftsmanship, as well
as, enthusiasm for her subject
were an inspiration. After all
members completed arrangements,
comments and suggestions for each
concluded her program.
At the business session which
followed, the 1963-64 slate of of-
ficers were presented:
President, Mrs. E. D. Nichols;
first visce-president, Mrs. Addi-
son Bradford: second vice-presi-
dent, Mrs. E. C. Walker; third
vice-president, Mrs. M. W. Finch;
secretary, Mrs. H. J. Kempe;
treasurer, Mrs. W. E. Smith; his-
torian, Mrs. David Kanost; social
chairman, Mrs. E. N. Kerr; sun-
shine, Mrs, Don Bo.vsen; telephone,
Mrs. M. T. Bowling; yearbook
artist, Mrs. Kanost.
Two new members were enrolled
[ Mrs. Jack Fleming and Mrs. Ray
I Logan.
ST. ANDREWS CHURCH PLANS VALENTINE DANCE—St. Andrew!,
Episcopal Church of Farmers Branch is planning a Valentine dance-
Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8:30 p.m. It will be held at Ihe church on Val-
wood Parkway. Decorations in pink, red and white will carry out
the theme. Shown above is the Dance Committee, seated, left to
