Intered at the postoffice at Caroli-
lon, TexasJ as second class matter.
The most important political
development in Texas this week
was the retirement of Thos. B.
Love from the racefornomination
as! lieutenant-governor against
Barry Miller, It is highly prob-
able that this retirement will do
what Mr. Love says inspired the
move, help the Hoover cause in
Texas this fall. It would seem
that by refraining from showing
their strength at this time the
republicans would probably gsth- ^
er a larger vote than if Mr. Love
were to continue in the race and
lose, and the majority that would
have been piled up against him
the weaker the republican cams
paign would have been made.
The sacrifice made by Mr. Love
is a worthy one and should be
rewarded at some future time
when the republicans get into,
position to repay it.
Miss Hewitt is here from Leb-
anon, Okla. for a visit with her
sister. Mrs. Claude Vinson.
Mr. and Mrs John Maxey and
children of Prosper visited in
the A. C. Fyke home Monday.
Mrs. W. L. Martin was trans-
acting business in Dallas Wed-
nesday.
Will you vote tomorrow? Do
not forget to Vote early,
Schools are the most impon-
•ant institution of this nation.
To keep them to as high a stand
ard as is possible is the aim of
all true citizens. Thev mustjhave
finances to aperate and to make
improvements in the form of
another class room and sanitary
provisions. Give the board the
needed money. Vote for the
Bonds Saturday.
Archie Duncan and wife and
little daughter were on a vaca-
tion trip last week. They visited
Mineral Weils and spent several
days there camping.
The school needs the perma-
nent impiovements planned by

''Bridge-mg” the Gap
What an age we live in! So many things to do—so many places
to go. Sometimes you wonder how some women do it. Hut with
natural gas delivered right into the kitchen you can safely sit
at the bridge table until a bare half hour before dinner time~>
.t
-V.
vVT'OU women nowadays enjoy yourselves
far more than your mothers did.
Pleasant afternoon bridges, matinees, or
shopping tours are eas.ily accomplished
with all the modern conveniences that you
have to help you.
Consider natural gas, for instance.
/It’s always ready for you to use. To fully
(appreciate natural gas, just imagine your
jeonstetnation if you were to walk into
Jyour kitchen, turn the handle, and find no
Igas there! It just simply doesn’t happen,
'does it?
But if it were not for the Lone Star Gas
Company, you would not know the mar-
Ijfdous, taken-for-granted service that your
local gas company renders. You would have
the hardship of handling a more cumber-
some and dirty fuel. And much time would
be spent in waiting to he. c the stove (and
incidentally, the whole kitchen), before
you could cook.
We’ve built hu^e pipe linm that bring
clean and economical i.itifra! gas to your
community. Wc maintain cos \j pumping
stations so the pressure will nr er lag. And
part of our army'of employees <; always on
the job so that the service rhal. not fail.
Bridging the gap, as r l it to the
men—or"Bridge-ing the Cep,’ rs wc have
just told you—when v/e say our service
means lgss work and mere leisure for
women, you'll know what wc mean.
