PART IN ‘SILVER LANCE’
SILVER LANCE (FHTNC) —
Seaman Buddy W. Crowder, USN,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewie Crow-
der of 1838 Highway 77, Carroll-
ton, is participating (February 23-
March 12) in a major fleet train-
ing operation called “Silver
Lance” off the coast of California
while serving aboard the attack
aircraft carrier USS Midway.
The operation, under the direc-
tion of the Commander of the
First Fleet, is providing extensive
training in every facet of Naval
and amphibious warfare.
Participating units are receiv-
ing training in strike, anti-sub-
marine, mine and countermine,
anti-air and electronic warfare.
“Silver Lance” involves more
than 60 ships and 50,000 Navy and
Marine Corps personnel.
During the operation, aircraft
from the Midway is flying strike
missions and providing close air
support for Marine sea assault
forces.

lican Women, an official affiliate
of the National Federation of Re-
publican Women, will hold a Reg-
ioal Conference sponsored by the
national group on March 11. Tha
Regional Conference will be held
at the Executive Inn. Approxi-
mately 500 women will be attend-
ing the Regional Conference in
Dallas.
Mrs. J. B. Parks of Pueblo,
Colo., Past President of the Na-
tional Federation, will preside at
the workshop meeting.
Registration will be held from
9 to 10 a.m. for the meeting of the
group in the Sovereign Room of
the Executive Inn.
Luncheon reservations may be
made by sending a oheck for $3 to

Dallas.
Jr. Program Set at
St. Paul Hospital
Registration for the junior vol-
unteer program at St. Paul Hospi-
tal will be held on two consecutive
Saturdays, March 13 and 20, in
the volunteer office at 5909 Harry
Hines Blvd.
Girls entering their junior or
senior years of high school are
eligible to register for the pro-
gram from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
either Saturday.
Those accepted for the program
will be required to attend an
orientation program the first week
in June and then will be placed
in various departments throughout
the new hospital.
