Mr. and Mrs. Will Merrill and
son, John, and wife and two sons
of Shawnee, Okla, spent several
days here this week with Mr. and
Mrs. C. A. Johnston. Mrs. Merrill
Is a sister of Mr. Johnston. They
also visited the State Fair of Texas
with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Broad-
hurst who has charge of the Car-
rlio Springs exhibit. Mrs. Broad-
hurst and Mrs. Merrill are sisters.
The Broadhursts have had charge
of the exhibit for a number of
years and formerly lived In Farm-
ers Branch.
Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Nixon had
the following guests Sunday: Mr.
and Mrs Delbert Elmore and chil-
dren, Mrs. Pansy Langston and
two sons of Farmers Branch, Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Jones and
daughter of Sherman, Charline
and Mary Lee Myers of Carrollton,
Mr. and Mrs. Buck Hubbard and
children of Dallas.
Mrs. Marie Hall had the misfor-
tune of falling In her home Tues-
day morning and breaking her
hip. She was taken to a Dallas
hospital for treatment.
Mrs. J. C. Foster, Sr., spent
Thursday until Sunday In Oak
Cliff visiting with Mr. and Mrs. R.
A. Hogue.
Mrs. Lillian May and Mrs. Char-
lie Stovall and grandson, Freddy,
returned Monday from an Interest-
ing trip to Big Spring. Texas, and
Kena, N. M.
Mrs. Kirby Smith of Shawnee,
Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Smith
of Duncan Okla., visited with Mrs.
Fannie Perry and Mrs. Pearl
Oravley and other relatives.
Mrs. P. T. Oravley and children
of Gilmer, Texas, visited with Mrs.
Pearl Oravley over the week end.

spent the week end here with her

BAPTIST CHURCH
The College Avenue Baptist
Church entertained Thursday of
last week with an all-day fellow-
ship meeting of the Dallas County
Association. Speakers for the day
were Rev. C. C. Phillips of Bethel
Baptist Church and Rev. Wayne
Stout of Five Mile Baptist Church.
Lunch was served to about 75
persons at the noon hour.
The church was nicely deco-
rated with fall flowers and roses
furnished by Miss Annie Perry
and J. D. Tinsley Nursery. The
decorating committee deeply ap-
preciated the assistance and
thoughtfulness of these persons.
SWEETHEART OF THE TEXAS AGGIES—Miss Jeannine Holland,
20-year-old brunette, was presented October 15 at the A&M-TCU
football game in Fort Worth. A junior at Texas State College for
Women, Miss Holland is from Houston.
