Miss Edna Walker spent Sunday in
Dallas with her sister* Mrs. Sam All-
red and Mrs. Raymond Nix.
Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Derr of Dallas
announce the arival o{ a 7 pound baby
boy at the Florence Nightingale hos*
pital in Dallas. The baby has been
named Jerry Tipton Derr. Mrs. Den-
is the former Miss Ruby Tipton of
Carrollton.

Dorothy Lamour Has Star
Role in Jungle Picture
Dorothy Lamour, whose pictures al-
ways turn out to be solid entertain-
ment hits makes her return to the
screen in a new Paramount jungle
film in Technicolor, “Beyond the Blue
Horizon,” which comes to the local
Plaza Theatre screen Thursday and
Friday of next week. Yes folks, she
wears a sarong in this one!
Her new jungle mate is Richard
Denning. He's tall, blonde and hand-
some, is a first-rate actor and advance
reports describe him as ideal for
Dotty’s romantic partner.
Included in the featured cast besides
Denning are Jack Haley, Patricia Mor-
ison. Walter Abel, Helen Gilbert and
Elzabeth Patterson. One of the more
popular screen comedians, Haley is
always good for a laugh. Moreover,
we can take for granted a convinc-
ing performance from Walter Abel.
He was a joy as the "I’m pot happy”
editor of “Arise My Love” and the
advertising agency pal of Ray Milland
in "Skylark.”
Miss Lamour sings the new hit
tune, “A Full Moon and an Empty
Heart."

at Denton, spent the weekend herd
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. G.
Skinner.
Mrs. Charley Dice of Vickery spent
Tuesday here with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. O. L. Dickerson.
Miss Loraine Cashion who was for-
merly employed at. the Joe Stout Cafe,
left Sunday to go to Burleson where
■he will operate a cafe recently pur-
chased by her father.
Woman’s Study Club
Met Thursday Afternoon
The Woman’s Study Club met Thurs-
day afternoon at the First Baptist
church. .
Miss Erma Sincler spoke on "Scenes of
New Mexico.” Musical numbers were
given by the Glee club girls and by
W. M. Wilson and Wayne McCarty. Girls
from the senior class sang a Spanish
number.
Mrs. O. J. hunon was a guest at the
meeting.
CB SCOTS HOLD PAC MEET
The Carrollton Cub Scouts held a
pack meeting Friday night in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Bishop with
graduation exercises for Leslie Lovell
and Alan Bishop.
Parents of the two presented them
with Scout unnorms. The cub scouts
presented Mrs. Edd Lovell with a Den
Mother’s uniform as a surprise birth-
day present.
Pieces of cake from the den mother's
two-tier birthday pastry and punch
were served.
Those present included Mrs.' E. L.
James, Rev. and Mrs. Felix R. Kin-
del, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Reed, Mr.
and Mrs. C. C. Lovelace and her
mother, Mrs. O. J. Inmon, Mr. and
Mrs. Edd Lovell and children, Mr.
and Mrs. E. H. Bishop and the cub
scouts. ,

William Mayes Jr., Oct. 16, at Flor-
ence Nightingale hospital in Dallas.
Mrs. H. A. Powers and children, who

week to join their husband and father

death of his brother, Floyd Marsh of
