Vote for May 25
Dallas County Commissioners
Thursday unanimously approved
a petition for a May 25 election on
the Dallas County Junior College
proposal.
Propositions on the ballot will
include establishing a junior col-
lege district; setting a tax rate;
passing a bond issue; and elect-
ing a seven-member board of
trustees.
The Commissioners also ap-
proved a slate of DCJC trustee
nominees for the May 25 election.
The April 26 deadline to file can-
didacy for a place on the board
was met by a full slate of seven
persons.
Running unopposed on May 25
will be R. L. Thornton, Jr., Mrs.
Eugene McDermott, Carrie E.
Welch, Loncy L. Leake, Durwood
Sutton, Dr. Frank J. Altick, and
Franklin E. Spaififord.
Dallas attorney, Hobby McCall,
outlined the junior college and
trustee petitions to the Commis-
sioners for the DCJC Steering
Committee, and a sizeable 'hearing
audience which submitted the pe-
titions.
The delegation headed 'by Steer-
ing Committee chairman, Mr.
Thornton, included mayors from
Carrollton, Garland, Irving, Rich-
ardson, Highland Park, Grand
Prairie and other civic officials.
County Chambers of Commerce
Officers; DCJC Steering Committee
members, and county professional
leaders were also on h/md.
Attending from Carrollton were
Mayor R. J. Mclnnish, Boyd New-
man, Niok Sindik and George
Patzig.

Agency and Del Carter for out-

March Marathon Campaign of

The agency, managed by Nick
Ricoo, placed seventh in produc-
tion nation-wide with over one

and submitted.
Del won the Decalathon by plac-
ing fifth nation-wide with produc-
tion in excess of $500,000. He
placed in most lives written; reg-
ional leader and several other
awards. Other local leaders were
J. Dan Smith, James Westbrook
and James Spence.
J. Dan Smith, manager of the
College Division of the Agency has
just returned from a workshop at
the home office in Houston.
Since taking over the division,
Smith and his agents have pro-
duced over one-half million of
ordinary life insurance.
“The workshop was a complete
success and we were instrumental
in instigating changes to keep up
and again go ahead of our com-
petition,” said Smith.
