MARCH PLENTIFUL FOODS
LIST ARE IN GOOD SUPPLY
All items on the USDA’s March
plentiful foods list are in good
supply in the Southwest, reports
Mae Belle Smith, consumer edu-
cation specialist for the Texas
Agricultural Extension Service.
Stocks of canned sweet corn
and canned snap beans as well as
rice are so large that USDA is
featuring them during the windy
month.
Other plentifuls include such
meats as heavy turkeys, beef,
pork, frozen haddock and halibut,
shrimp and canned tuna.
Also, such high protein content
foods as eggs, milk, cheese and
other dairy products are in abun-
! dant supply.
Only three fruits made the offi
rial March list—raisins, fresh and
processed oranges and grapefruit
i Pinto beans, lard, vegetable fats
and oils round out the USDA’s
monthly listing for March.

Q—I plan to convert my GI
term insurance policy to a per-
manent plan. Will I have to send
VA a new list of beneficiaries, or
will beneficiaries already named
carry over to my permanent in-
surance?
A—It is not necessary for you
to submit a new list of benefici-
aries when you convert your in-
surance. The beneficiaries you
have named originally will carry
over to your permanent insur-
ance. You can, of course, change

nesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Stocks of canned sweet corn,
canned snap beans and rice are so
large that they get top billing on
the March plentiful foods list. The
entire list is a long one, and
homemakers should find it a help
in balancing diets as well as food
budgets.
Larger marketing caused by in-
creased hog numbers will lower
hog prices this spring and sum-
mer. Later in the year, slaughter
should slow and prices improve,
leveling off just below those of
last fall.

O have calmness and strength
been more essential to America
than in today’s world. We can
look to George Washington’s life
for an example of reason and
patience, and to the freedom his
victories brought us for the ben-
efits of strength.
The patience we must learn. The
strength we can provide simply
by keeping our own homes strong
and secure. And one good way
is by investing in U. S. Savings
Bonds. For the strength of Amer-
ica is the strength of its individ-
ual homes joined together.
Invest in Savings Bonds regular-
ly where you bank or through
the Payroll Savings Plan where
you work. They’re the finest in-
vestment you can possibly make
in your own future and in the
future of your country.

ment thanks, for their patriotic donation, the Advertising Council and
