How docs Doc Shuler know
that that elephant he declaies to
be 500,000years old and wlrch
was found (its bor.es were found)
seven miles soulh of Dallas was
not one of a party of elephants
employed by a circus, and that
went on a strike, or broke loose
after an exhibtion given in town
and wandered off down in the
old Trinity bottoms (of course
they may not have cal'ed it the
Trinity bottoms then) and got
mired down and ended its ca
reer thusly. There is reason to
believe this to be so unless many
more like remains can be found.
Running away from a circus
there would be but one elephant
to come to a dismal end; but had
there been many elephants in-
habiting the rpginn some of
them doubtless would have
come to the rescue of the one in
distress and more of them per-
ished while trying to rescue the
one lost. These scientists jump
at conclusions too readily.

Lemon Aids
Every one knows that hot
Jfemonade is good for a cold and
«old lemonade is an excellent
beverage for a hot day.
Do not tkink for a moment,
however, that the little lemon's
uses are so easily exhausted.
When towels become dingy,
put them in a pan of cold water
with soap and lemon juice. Heat
gradually to boiling point. Rinse
in lukewarm water and blue as
usual?
To clean the white keys of the
piano, rub with paste made
of whitening and lemon juice.
When aluminum kettles be-
come dull or black, clean them
with a cloth dipped in lemon
juice, then rinse in warm water.
When whipping cream add
three or fou r drops ol lemon
juice to a cup of cream to make
it stiff and firm.
A teaspoon of lemon juice add
ed to the water in which lamb or
j veal for stew is coaking will add
to the flavor and tenderness of
the meat.
There is reason to believe that
the medical profession will
“snap out of it” to use an illum-
inating slang phrase common on
the street. When error can be
discovered and criticised within
the ranks of the business or pro
fession in error there is great
tiope for improvement. The
layman had come to think there
was no hope and that the pro-
fession which was wound 'round
with so much ethical tape could
not contribute to its own recov-
ery. Now'comes Dr. George j
E Follansbee of Baltimore and
serves the indictment bimsef
which gives cause for the hope
we have expressed. The doctor
knows and says that his profes-
sion is running too m u.c h to
"Specialists" and the good old
doctor who cared for the Amer-
ican family is fast disappearing
We have known this for some
time. We also presume that
Dr. Follansbee has Known it for
a long time, too, and only when
it got on his nerves heavily did
he speak out in meetin’and tell
the world what was the matter
with the medical profession
Let us hope that the warning he
issues will be productive of
good
