OBITUARY
James E. Smith, 50, 2635 Rich-
land, Farmers Branch, was killed
while picking up metal debris on
Stemmons Expressway at Com-
monwealth Monday, January 4.
It was reported that Smith, who
was a State Highway Department
employee, got out of the truck to
pick up the debris. He slipped and
fell. The department truck ran
over him with the right rear
wheel. The accident occurred
about 8:35 a.m. and he died on
the operating table shortly after
2 that afternoon.
He is survived by wife, Mrs.

Funeral Chapel with Rev. J. B.
Allen and Rev. Joseph Crane offi-
ciating. Interment was in Hilltop
Cemtery, Carrollton. Pallbearers
were Finis W. Rich, Millard J.
Cline, Herbert E. Sams, Charles H.
Robison, A. Y. Norman and Dud-
ley L. Adair.

man Elwell, Houston; eight grand-
children, one great-grandchild.
Services were held Friday 10:30
a.m. in the St. David’s Episcopal
Church, Denton with Rev. E. H.
Campbell officiating. Interment
was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Blanton;
Tom Stewart, Edgar Mayes, W. N.
Webster, Dr. Gene Morris, Dr.
Conrad Kinard with Rhoton, Wel-
land - Merritt Funeral Home in
charge.

YOUTH REVIVAL SET
FOR JANUARY 15-17
The Highland Baptist Church
will be having a Youth Revival
this week end, January 15-17.
Dee Black from Mt. Pleasant,
will be preaching, and Bob Mc-
Makin, newly-elected choir direc-
tor of Highland, will be leading
the singing.
The services will begin at 7:30
Friday and Saturday nights, and
10 oclock Saturday morning.
The time of the Sunday night
services have been changed. Be-
ginning this Sunday night, Jan-
ary 17, Training Union will begin
at 6; preaching service at 6:45;
and Choir practice around 7:45.

Mrs. Fred Link, recruitment
chairman of the Dallas County
Red Cross, spoke to the Carrollton
Women’s Study Club January 13.
The meeting was held in the home
of Mrs. Bill Thompson, 1306 Car-
roll Ave.
Mrs. Link told the club of the
different types of volunteer work
available. She explained the Red
Cross supplies volunteers for 37
different agencies in the county,
VA Hospital, Children, Inc., Park-
land Hospital, several day nurs-
eries, the Eye Bank and numerous
homes for children and the aged.

holidays at the home of Mrs. Jack-
man Gill.
The troop wishes to acknowl-
edge Mrs. Virginia Randolph for

Patrol leaders are elected
monthly to give each girl an op-
portunity to participate. This
month patrol leader is Beverly
