Rodeo Planned
The Carrollton Jaycees are
sponsoring a Coppell Back-to-
school rodeo on Saturday, August
29, at 8 p.m., with a share of the
profits going to the Carrollton Li-
brary Fund. A special feature of
this rodeo will be the presentation
of two Schwinn-built bicycles as
door prizes.
These bicycles will be displayed
at local business establishments in
the area beginning this week.
Other special attractions are to
be announced at a later date.
Tickets are to be placed on sale
July 20 at various businesses in
Carrollton.
The chairmanship of this proj-
ect is being handled by John Mar-
shall, who urges all rodeo fans to
make it a point to attend this par-
ticular rodeo for a lot of fun and
excitement and at the same time
making it possible for the library
facilities to be improved.

Fourteen local Boy Scout Packs,

sored by various churches, PTA’s,
civic clubs and other institutions
in Farmers Branch, are partici-
p a t i n g in the nation - wide
“Strengthen America’s Heritage”
program through the month of
July.
The purpose of the program is
to make boys in Scouting and the
people of Farmers Branch more
aware of their American heritage.
The program is co-sponsored
by the Boy Scouts of America and
Freedoms Foundation at Valley
Forge. Over 136,000 Cub Scouts,
Boy Scouts and Explorer units are
participating.
The program will culminate on
July 18 at the Sixth National Boy
Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge,
Pa., where over 50,000 Scouts will
celebrate American Heritage Day
with special patriotic campfire
meetings. Scouts not attending the
jamboree will conduct their own
“heritage” campfires in their re-
spective camps and communities.
The “heritage” campfire for the
Farmers Branch Scout units will
be held on Saturday, July 18, at
7:30 p.m. in the clearing behind
the Valwood Village Shopping
Center. An interesting program
has already been made and the
public is invited to attend.
