ery of San Antonio. Pvt. Harvey H.
Rutherford of Camp Hood and Mr.
Sam C. Shields. Sunday afternoon
visitors were Ramon Rehm of
Utopia, and S-Sgt. Jim Rutherford,
i'amp Maxey.
Sammie Jack Black of Brownwood
U visiting his aunt, Mr. and Mrs
Bert Turney
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Black spent
Saturday and Sunday night with
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carter.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Deal entertain-
ed Thursday night with a party. A
large crowd attended.

Mr. and Mrs. Ous Fiveash. Mr.
and Mrs. Buster Wynn and boys vis-
ited Sunday with Mr and Mrs. Sam
Rutherford of Rockwood.
Those to enjoy Christmas dinner
with Mr and Mrs. George Ruther-
ford were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ruth-
erford and children, Mr and .Mrs.
I. O. Smith Of Iraan and family, Mr
Sammie Shields. Mr and Mrs. Q.
Montgomery, San Antonio, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Black, Brownwood, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Carter and Bert. Ebb
Rutherford and son John Henry
and Pvt, Harvey (Dumpy) Ruther-
ford of Camp Hood, Pvt. Rutherford
had to leave soon after dinner for
camp.
Sunday afternoon visitors were
Mr. Rex Cooper. Rockwood, and Mr.
Walter Smith and sons of Mexico. 1
Mr and Mrs. Henry Smith and
family and Rev. Howard Smith and
family spent Christmas Day with
the Mrs. Smith's mother, Mrs. Dora
White of Brownwood. Mr. and Mrs.
Bud Smith and family returned to
Brownwood with them.
Pvt L. J. Lovelady spent Christ-
mas with his parents, Mr and Mrs.
Tommie Holmes and sister, Tommie
Sue.
Mr and Mrs. Neebs have returned
to their home here for a while.
Mr and Mrs. Dick Deal and fam-
ily spent Christmas at Melvin. Mrs.
Deal's mother, Mrs. Fannie Ellis, Is
now at Melvin.
Mr. and Mrs Llge Lancaster and
children attended the school pro-
gram here Saturday. Also Mr. Guy
Ellis of Wqodson attended the pro-
gram and greeted friends here.
Mr and Mrs. C Davenport went
to San Angelo Friday for their son.
J R„ and family. Mr and Mrs.
Davenport had all their children
with them for Christmas.
A large cro^d enjoyed the party
at Mr and Mrs Jim Carter's Friday
night.
Several parents attended the
school Christmas tree Friday after-
noon School will resume work

family spent Christmas In Odessa
visiting relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs Jim PhtHips had as
their gueat over the holidays, Mrs.
Jimmie Lee Brown and sons from
Brady. Taking dinner with them
Sunday were Mr Jimmie Lee Brown
of Brady, Mr and Mrs. Joe Phillips
and family Mrs P Annie Ander-
son, all of Camp Bowie, Mrs. Cora
Phillips and children, Mable and
Sealy.
Those visiting In the Sam Moore
home Sunday were C. T. Moore and
family. Buck Mills and family, D. H.
Moore and family from Santn Anna,
Mr. and Mrs Trueman Fletcher, Mr.
and Mrs. Edd Hartman and Mrs.
DorU Penney and son.
Miss Omelia Hartman of Dallas Is
visiting her family. Mr. and Mrs.
I. E. Hartman through the holidays,
Mr. and Mrs. Manley Blanton,
Oneta and Gladys spent Christmas
day in Camp Bowie with their chil-
dren.
Those visiting In the I. E. Hart-
man home Sunday were, Mr and
Mrs. Lewis Wright and family, Mr.
and Mrs Walter Hester and family,
all of Waco.
. Mrs. J. C. Perry and son Bobby
visited during Christmas in Houston.
Mr. and Mrs Driscoe Woods and
Mr, and Mrs Henry Williams were
shopping in Brady Saturday.
Those visiting in the E. R. Cupps
home Sunday were Mr and Mrs.
J. E Williams of Buffalo, Mr. and
Mrs. Casey Herring and family.
Mrs Lonnie Knutson, Otis and
Odell Woods, Leon Phillips and
Gladys Blanton attended the show
in Santa Anna Wednesday night.
On rare occasions during a cold
winter evening, from some hidden
place where It has gone for warmth
near the fire, a cricket will chirp for
a little while. It sounds odd to hear
crickets In winter, and I have heard
them like that only a few times in
my lifetime.

Christmas sermon at the Congre-
gational Methodist church here

lahoma this week. We are going
to miss them, but we wish them lots
