daughter of Mrs. W E. Wallace of

the home of her mother. Misses
Elsie Lee Harper, and Ruby Harp-
er and Mrs, J W RUey, Jr., enter-
tained with a gift tea at the Harp-
er home, Tuesday afternoon from 4
to 6 o'clock.
For the occasion the home was
artistically decorated with arrange-
ments of gladiolus, daisies, dahlias,
lilies and pansies. The tea table was
laid with a lace cloth and center-
ed with an arrangement of gladi-
olus, flanked by lighted tapers.
In the receiving line were the
bride elect, her mother, Mrs Karl
Wallace, Mrs. V. E. Wallace, and
Mrs 8 E. Wallace
Presiding over the tea table were
Misses Myrta Bob Harper Joyce
Hunter. Evelyn Bruce and Bonnie
Jean Balke. Mrs. L, A. Singleton
invited guests to the dining room.
Miss Frankie Holt presided in the
music room where gifts were on
display. Seventy-five called during
the tea hours.

Dillard entertained with a family
gel-to-gether Sunday at the city
park, honoring, their parents- on
their 50th wedding anniversary.
At noon a bountiful dinner was
served which Included the large
beautiful wedding cake, fried chick-
en, roast, salads, etc. During the
day pictures were made of the fam-
ily and also of the wedding cake

Coleman high school and the groom
is in the army stationed at Leav-
enworth, Kansas.
After spending a few days in
Coleman with friends and relatives
they will leave for Leavenworth,
Kansas, where they will make their

In a candlelight ceremony at the
Santa Anna Methodist church Sun-
day. Miss Chrlstene Douglas, dau-
ghter, of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Doug-
las,, of Santa Amiri, became the
bride of James Morris of Sonora,
with the Rev. A K, Marney, pastor,
officiating for the double ring cere-
mony.
The bride wore a gold creep dress
with a hat to match and brown ac-
cessories. She carried a Bible top-
ped with a white gladioli corsage
tied with forget-me-not streamers.
Miss Betty Ruth Douglas, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor and
Lester Douglas, brother of the bride,
served as best man.
The church was lighted with
white tapers in floor candelabra
and decoratiotis were baskets filled
with gladioli.
After a wedding trip to San Diego,
Calif., the couple will be at home
in Denton.

ter, which was a heart shaped

with satin ribbon, hand work of

games, after which refreshments

A meeting of the Woman’s Coun-
cil was held at the First Christian
church, Wednesday afternoon, June
5th. Mrs Henry Varner presided.

prayer. Mrs. John O. Harris play-
ed the piano accompaniment for
hymns sung. The time of meeting

GARRETT HOSTESS HOUSE
"Hints for Making Sewing Easier"
was Mrs. E. Garrett's roll call last
Friday, when the Coleman Inde-
pendent Club met at the Garrett
Hostess House with Mrs, J. W.
Quinn, Jr., as hostess. Mrs. Garrett
had made a tea apron with three
handkerchief, and presented it to
Mrs. Fred Garrett as a surprise,
if she would demonstrate it.
Southern songs were led by Mrs.
E. E. Hector with Mrs. , Frank
Brewer at the piano.
Mrs. Frank Gillespie was elected
to represent the club at the Coun-
cil as a THDA delegate.
Mrs. Fiank Gillespie reported 29
boxes containing 500 articles were
shipped to the Philippines from the
Home Demonstration Clubs.
Mrs. FTank Brewer reported on
the Brazilian luncheon and said
the register made by Mrs. L. L.
Propst and Mrs. Arthur Mitchell of
this club would be sent to- Miss
Hipp as a gift.
The club voted in favor of having
an encampment spme time in Aug-
ust, at the home cf Mrs. R. M. Mc-
Elrath.
The program on “Personality”
was given bv Mrs. Frank Gillespie.
Mrs. E. E. Hector led the recrea-
tion which was “Riddles from Dif-
ferent Countries.”
Tlie next meeting will be June 21
at Mrs. E. E. Hector's at 2:30
p.m. with a ■ demonstration on
