4-H club members from clubs all
over the county enjbyed a picnic
supper prepared by their mothers.
Saturday night, September 13, 1947
at the city park Elliott's Bakery
presented them with a large cake
beautifully decorated with the 4-H
emblem. After supper Mr and Mrs
Welton Holt of Shields, Jo West of
Shields, Maurice Gasslot of Valera,
Doris Beeler of Coleman and the
Extension Agents, Mary Jo Garland
and Herman E Jenkins presented a
program of recreation and talks on
the annual 4-H Roundup they at-
tended at Texas A&M, September
3-6 The Shields, Fisk. Coleman.
Echo, Buffalo, Brown Ranch, Sil-
ver Valley. Novice, Rock wood, Cross
Roads, Mozelley and Valera com-
munities were represented by club
members and their parents. The
Breeder-FVeder Auxiliary was repre-
sented by Mrs J C. Dlbrell. Jr.,
chairman of the committee that fi-
nanced the trip to A&M for these
boys and girls.

Aubry Slone was called to Temple
Saturday to be with his mother,
who Is very 111.
Mrs. Rov Thweatt and two sons,
spent the weekend In Abilene and
attended the Ring'ling Bros circus.
Miss Nancy and Ben Chaney
left Wednesday to attend the SWTT
college at San Marcos this winter
Mr and Mrs Briggs Slate and
little grandson and Dudley Slate
returned last week from St. Paul,
Minn., where they spent the sum-
mer. Dudley Slate went back there
Friday for a longer stay.
Mrs Derrell Slate had an appen-
dectomy tn the Coleman hospital,
Thursday and Is doing nicely
Charley Avant. son of Mrs Mary
Avant had a ruptured appendicitis
operation tn the Santa Anna hos-
pital Friday and is quite ill

ez, from Kenedy was here Sunday
for a short visit with Mrs. Cox.

last week In Phoenix, Arlz, with
