Santa Anna Senior
Santa Anna. April 26 —Seniors of
the Santa Anna high school were
feted when the Junior class enter-
tained with a garden'party Friday
evening on the lawn at the West
Texas Utility Co.
Decorations were carried out in a
Hawaiian theme, and recorded mu-
sic was furnished for dancing.
Elizabeth Ann Stewardson was
master of ceremony and speakers
included Julian Whitley, senior class
president; A. D. Dunham, high
school principal, and Alvin Bostick,
Bettie Blanton and Buford Dodgen,

Coleman Students to
Participate in Concert
On NTSTC Campus
Denton, Texas. Miss Ruth Reed
and Wayland McNutt, both of Cole-
man. and Douglas Royee William-
son of Talpa will be among the stu-
dent musicians of North Texas State
Teachers College who will partici-
pate in a ten-concert Bach Festival
on the Denton campus April 27, 28,
28, 30 and May 5, 6, 7.
Miss Reed, McNutt, and William-
son are members of' the NTSTC
Symphony Orchestra which will
participate In several of the perfor-
mances.
Miss Reed, daughter Herbert
Reed, is a music major and a mem-
ber of the sophomore class. ^
McNutt is the son of W C. Mc-
Nutt of Coleman.

HONORING HOUSTON AND
TYLER GUESTS.
Honoring her nieces. Mrs Claig
Perry of Houston and Mrs. Jack
Maddox of Tyler, Mrs. R. Bailey
entertained with a lunheon at the
Taylor Tea Room Monday, followed
with games of contract at the Bailey
home.
Arrangements of sweet peas, snap-
dragons, orange blossoms and irises
were seen In attractive arrange-
ments throughout the home. Three
tables were arranged for games.
Score awards went to Mrs B. B.
Nunley, high, and Mrs. F. W. Tay-
lor, Jr„ second high. Gifts were
presented to the honor guests.

man, the group sewed for the Red
Cross.

the First Methodist Church met at
the Red Crass Center Monday to
make surgical dressings Instead of
having the regular social meeting.
The class is meeting every Monday
afternoon and are anxioas for oth-
er class members and friends to join
them in this work as the need is
urgent as the invasion draws near
and the local center is behind on it’s
quota. . *
During intermission, hostesses

Weatherred, and J. A. Netherton,
invited the group to the drug store
where sherbet was served.

Culture Club heard Major James
Padgitt. who is back in the states
from the Italian battle front where
he was injured during the Invasion,
tell of the invasion, previoas prep-
arations for the invasion and ex-
periences under battle fire, at a
meeting of the Self Cultlre Club
Friday afternoon.
Mrs. C. B. Hardin, program leader
Introduced the speaker. Hastesses
were Mrs. Hardin, Mrs M. K. Witt
and Mrs. J. A. Horne. The "Texas
Day" theme was featured in deco-
rations, with arrangements of the
Texas bluebonnets adding the floral
note. The hostesses assisted by
Mrs. Annie L. Evetts, served plates
of sandwiches, ice box cookies and
tea to club members and the follow-
ing guests, Major Padgitt. Mrs. Pad-
gitt and daughter. Lillian, Mrs. W.
