Cardiac
Catheterization
Catheterization is a procedure
commonly used to determine
if coronary arteries supplying
blood to the heart muscle are
narrowed by atherosclerosis.
During a catheterization, a
team of doctors inserts the tip
of a long, thin, sterile tube
called a catheter into a small
incision in an artery in the leg
or arm and carefully pushes
it in until the tip reaches the
place in the heart or aorta
the doctor wants to study.
The aorta is the main artery
carrying blood from the heart
to the body. The coronary
arteries branch off the aorta.
Normally, dye is injected into
the coronary arteries through
the catheter, which makes it
possible to determine through
fluoroscope x-rays if coronary
arteries have been narrowed
by atherosclerosis.

Short Take...
You aren't the only one who
may change travel plans.
According to "National
Wildlife" magazine, an
estimated eight million ducks,
geese and swans that once
flew south for the winter now
stay in the Midwest during
their winter migration. The
reason: wetlands drainage
along the lower Mississippi
River has reduced wintering
habitat.
Community got together and
formed a riding club. It is
called Perrin Rough Riders.
The officers are: Otis
Westbrook, president; Charlie
King, vice-president; Carol
King, treasurer and Tracy
Sine, secretary.
The annual dues are $20.00
per family. Members have
chosen gold and white as
club colors.
During the Jack Countv
Sheriffs Posse rodeo, which
was held the first weekend in
June, around 24 riderB

from Perrin to Jacksboro.
During the July 4 weekend
the club had a trail ride on
Charlie King's place and from
August 1 to August 4 they
camped at the Mineral Wells
State Park.
A spokesman for the club
said that they formed the club
in order to be able to enjoy
their horses together and that
is their main interest.
