Powell Returns On Hunting Trip
Ronnie Powell of
Lewisville, Texas was
in the Squaw Mountain
area this past week,
hunting with a group of
friends, including Don
George of Lewisville,
Eddie Wright of Den-
ton, Jim Dane and son,
Robbie, of Pilot Point,
and Brian Powell, also
of Lewisville.
Powell related he was
bom in Jacksboro and
WSlwiJwiii
raised in Jack County.
He married Ann Leach,
also of Jacksboro, and
they have two children,
Brian and Missy. The
hunting trip is an
annual event, ac-
cording to family
members, who said
Lonnie Densman of
Lewisville was missed
this year, as he bought
land in the county and
hunted there, rather
thad with the group, as
| he had in the past
Powell works for
Peterbilt Truck Com-
pany in Denton.

County Residents Receive Awards
Seven Jack County
residents jjjceivcd awards
at the recent Texas State
hair, held annually in
Dallas during October.
Those entering the food
division were Oma and
George Myers; Beverly
and A..I. Myers; Kathy
and James Myers; and
Dorothy Anderson. A.J.
and James are sons of Oma
and George Myers.
Oma placed first with
mixed sween pickles and
received honorable
mention ribbons for
pickled okra, bread-and-
butter pickles and
blackberry jam.
George was presented
an honorable mention
ribbon for pickled okra.
Beverly was awarded an
honorable mention ribbon
for picante sauce and A.J.
an honorable mention for
barbecue sauce.
Kathy won first place in
the Krito l.ay dip and chip
contest and placed, third
with pickled okra. She
received honorable
mention ribbons for hot
mixed vegetables and
picante sauce. James
received honorable
mention ribbons for
barbecue sauce and
pickled okra.
Dorothy placed second
in sweet cucumber pickles
and collected honorable
mention ribbons with
tomato preserves and
plum jelly.
Entering the poultry
division. Kathy placed
third with a Golden
Sebright Bantam cockerel
and fourth with a hen of
the same category.

Appreciation to Kids
The Jacksboro Lions
Club today reported 47
students partcipated in
the Saturday, No-
vember 5 jump-a-thon
in the National Guard
Armory. "It was a great
success", according to
club spokesmen, who
expressed appreciation
to students and spon-
sors who participated.
Students were divid-
ed into 12 teams, with
each team jumping a
total of three hours,
according to Lions,
who related facts
concerning this years
proceeds will be
published at a later
date, along with the
winning team and
students names.
A special thanks was
extended to local
Young Homemakers,
who provided cookies
for refreshments.
Students who partici-
pated in the event
