Elects Officers
Officers for 1985 were elected at
the October 4 meeting of Gouldbusk
Extension Homemakers Club at the
home t*f Margaret Wilson.
Carolyn Wilson was elected pres-
ident. Other officers are Wanda
Jewell, vice president; Mozelle Will-
iams, secretary-treasurer; and Jen-
na Murry, council delegate. Presi-
dent Veta Wilson conducted the
business meeting.
“Drugs and Drug Abuse" was the
topic for the program which was
presented by Agnes Taylor, Extern

Houston; Mr. and Mrs. Billy Haas

TALPA-CENTENNIAL RUNNING BACK Doug Drake is brought
down by a Christoval Cougar tackier after a short gainer during
action in the District 5-A Six Man game in falpa last Friday.
Drake led the Rams' rushers with 169 yards on 19 carries. He
tallied a TD on an 80 yard kickoff return in the final period of
play. Blocker Darrell Horn (52) at left also scored a Ram TD in
the final period on a one yard plunge. Christoval won the 5-A
opener, 54-19.

Funerals
Larry Hughes, 34
Larry Victor Hughes, 34, of Santa
Anna, a horse trainer, died at 6 a.m.
Friday, October 5, 1984, at Brown-
wood Regional Hospital after a
sudden illness. Services were at 2
p.m. Sunday at Stevens Memorial
Chapel.
The Rev. James Ford of Santa
Anna Assembly of God Church
officiated. Burial was in Brown
Ranch Cemetery under direction of
Stevens Funeral Home.
Born June 7, I960, in Kermit, the
son of Leon V. and Thelma Gray
Hughes, he grew up in Wickett and
graduated from high school in
Monahans. He moved to Bangs in
1971, and later moved to Santa
Anna. He married Elizabeth Slaugh-
ter in April 1980, in Brownwood. He
was a member of Assembly of God
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Beth
of Bangs; two daughters, Wendy
Dawn Hughes and Tammie Larrisa
Hughes; two stepchildren, Nicki
Hughes and Jerry Hughes, both of
Bangs; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Leon Hughes of Santa Anna.
Pallbearers were Tom Moseley,
Paul Shelton. Sherman Wilburn,
Daryl Mobley, Gary Don Martin,
Doug Harmon and Bonner Green.
George Manogian, 90
George Manogian, 90, brother-in-
law of Mrs. Herman Garlington,
died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday in
Midland, and funeral services were
held there yesterday.
Mr. Manogian lived in Coleman
the past three years before moving
to Midland a month ago.
Survivors include his wife, Myr-
tle; a daughter, Evelyn Pulliam; and
one granddaughter.
Roscoe Collinge, 75
Roscoe Collinge, 75, a retired
stockman of Coleman, died at 9:30
p.m. Wednesday, October 3,1984 at
his residence. Services were 2 p.m.
Friday at Walker Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Roger Hammonds of First
Baptist Church, officiated. Burial
was at Evergreen Cemetery in
Ballinger.
Born Nov. 13, 1908, in Genesco,
Kansas, he mnrried Pauline Simp
son October 27,1946, in Winters. He
had lived in Coleman County since
1948 and he served in the U. S.
Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of
Coleman.
Pallbearers were Bill Sneed, Har
old Phillips, Fred Garrett, Keith
Phillips, Bill Lengefeld and George
Gould.
Mrs. Willie Eldred, 89
Mrs. Willie Eldred,
89, of Mineral Wells, formerly of
Coleman, died at 6:04 p.m. Monday at
Palo Pinto General Hospital in Min-
eral Wells. Services are pending with
Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman.
Born June 25, 1895, in Comanche
County, she married Earnest Eldred
Sept. 12, 1914, and the couple moved
to Coleman in 1925. She was a mem-
ber of the Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her
husband.
Survivors include three daughters,
Ruby Haney of Mineral Wells, Ruth
Simpson and Hetty Faye Brown, both
of Coleman; three sons, Frank and
Earnest, both of Winters, and Cecil of
Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Alice
Phillips of Odessa and Lela Shellbar-
ger of Brownwood; and several
grandchildren and great-grandchild-
ren.
