served as hostesses when the Cap-
tain William Buckner Chapter,
Daughters of the American Revolu
tion, met at Conger’s Clubroom for a
luncheon at 12:30 on September 8,
for the first meeting of the 1984-85
year.
Mrs. Hardy Blue offered a prayer
before the meal. Chapter Regent
Mrs. Don Starnes called the regular
meeting to order. First Vice-Regent
Mrs. J. C. Wilkerson distributed
new year books which were printed
as a courtesy of First Coleman
National Bank, and Mrs. Hardy Blue
gave the devotional. Mrs. Minnie
Flippen gave a memorial service for
deceased members, Miss Elizabeth
Alexander and Mrs. C. M. (Eliza
beth Pitts) Wagner. Members re
peated the Pledge of Allegiance to
the Flag and The American’s Creed,
led by Carrie Howard. Minutes of
the May 12 meeting were read by
secretary, Mrs. Hugh B. Williams.
National Defense Chairman, Mrs.
Joe Burroughs, reported on the
resolutions of the 93rd Continental
Congress, NSDAR.
Mrs. Clyde Larance submitted
five names of applicants for mem-
bership in NSDAR through the
Captain William Buckner Chapter
as follows: Mrs. Gussie Sparkman
Jennings of Coleman, Mrs. Vada
Sparknian Pridemore of Ozona,
Mrs. Jan Pridemore Kenley of
Ozona, Mrs. Jane Jeitnings Kraker
of Abilene, and Dr. Fenella Schaef
fer of Coleman. Reports were given
by Mrs. J. C. Wilkerson, Mrs. Joe
Bunt, Mrs. L. E. Jameson and Mrs.
Maynard Gaines. Mrs. Don Starnes
appointed Mrs. Minnie Flippen as
Liberty Love Day chairman.
Mrs. J. C. Wilkerson introduced
Mrs. Otis Throgmorton who gave
the patriotic program entitled "Con-
stitution of the U.S."

Jennings and Mrs. Jane Kraker.

Kidnap Breakfast
Held For BYW
A Kidnap Breakfast for members
of Baptist Young Women was held
by officers of BYW on Saturday,
September 11, from 5:30 a.m.-7:30
a.m. at the home of Nan Moses. A
breakfast of sausage crepes, bis-
cuits, bacon, fruit, cinnamon rolls,
muffins, coffee and orange juice was
served.
Carolyn Payne presented the
prayer calendar, and Donna Phillips
said prayer for missionaries having
birthdays.
Present were Donna Phillips,
Sandra Blake, Joye Fuller, Betty
McClellan, Sharon Watson, Janet
Hardin, Amy Hinds, Cathy Brewer,
Kathy Hardin, Carolyn Payne, Bon-
nie Brown, Donna Franke and Nan
Moses.

On Stress
Baptist Young Women met
Thursday, September 6 at the home
of Joye Fuller with Cathy Brewer
serving as co-hostess. Nan Moses
presided over the business portion
of the meeting.
WMU will have a booth at the
Fiesta on Saturday, September 29,
furnishing Bible tracts and ice
water. Members set a goal of $73.00
to be collected for Mary Hill Davis
Week of Prayer for State Missions.
Bonnie Brown presented the pro-
gram on stress. Members told of
how some missionaries deal with
different types of stress, then
Mission Action projects were
discussed. Carolyn Payne presented
the prayer calendar, Cathy Brewer
read Proverbs 22:1 12 and Bonnie
Brown led the closing prayer.
Present, besides those mention
ed, were Sharon Watson, Betty
McClellan, Donna Phillips and San
dra Blake.
North Baptists
To Hold Revival
North Coleman Baptist Church
will be holding a revival at the
church September 10 through Sept-
ember 16 with services beginning
each evening at 7:00. Rev. Ulys
Garrett, pastor of Harmony Baptist
Church, will be doing the preaching
and Billy Bartley will be leading the
singing. Mrs. Bartley will play the
piano.
The pastor of the church. Rev.
Billy W. Roberts, and the congrega-
tion invite the public to attend all
services.

Tennis Tournament held Thursday,
September 6 and Friday, Septem-
ber 7, are listed below. The tourney
was sponsored by Coleman County
Oilfield Services and A & W Oilfield
Supply.

The Good Neighbor Home De-
monstration Club met Friday, Sept-
ember 7, at 9 a.m. in Coleman Bank
Club Room.
Officers for the 1984-85 club year
were elected as follows: President,
Joan Anderson; Vice President,
Anna Jenkins; Council Delegate,
Ruby Martin; and Secretary-Treas
urer, Peggy Garrett. Mary Frances
Smith was elected as a member of
the Finance Committee.
Mrs. Smith presented a program
on "Stenciling". In giving her pro-
gram, she stated "that anything can
be stenciled for decoration, such as
wood, walls and clothing.”

refreshments of oatmeal cake, cold
drinks and coffee to three visitors,

Andy Fenton has advised the
Coleman newspaper that he has
officially filed as a write-in candi-
date for the post of Constable of
Precinct Three. He is now serving in
that position, having been appointed
by the County Commissioners
