first hour, Mrs, M. T. White
and Mrs. Fred Rudolph poured

During the afternoon recog-
nition was given to girls who
were recipients of this year's
DAR Good Citizen Awards.
The three girls, Sue Sprinkles
of Novice, Vicki Winburne of
Coleman and Miss Davis of
Talpa, were present along with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Sprinkles, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Winburne, and Mr. and
Mrs. Don Davis. Mrs. Minnie
Flippen presented pins
and certificates-to the girls.
The serving table was done
in silver with accents of red,
white and blue in the floral
arrangement, streamers and
napkins. DAR members were
dressed in colonial dresses.

given over to a business
meeting and brief program.
Mrs. Burroughs, Regent, called
the group to order and Mrs.
Blue led -devotions, dedicating
them as a memorial to Mrs.
Elbert Bilton, sister of Mrs.
Claude Alvey and a member of
the Chapter. Mrs. Blanton led
the Pledge to the Flag and the
American's Creed.
Mrs. Burroughs read a
message from the President
General and reported that
winning essays among those
written at Coleman Junior High
School have been sent in for
judging at the state level. Mrs.
Wells read a treasurer's report.
Then Mrs. Jameson.and Mrs.
Gaines presented Ester Stacy
as a prospective member.
Mrs. Weatherred presented
the program, “Let Us Give
Thanks We Are Americans."

which was hosted by Mrs. See,
Mrs. Gray, and Mrs. D. H.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clevenger
of Ponce, Puerto Rica are
announcing tjie arrival of a
daughter, Tonya Delinda. She
weighed 9 lbs. and one oz. when
she was born to them in Damas
Hospital at Ponce at 11:00 a.m,
Friday, March 19,1976.
Grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Haskell Clevenger of
Coleman and Mr. and Mrs. Juan
Rosa of Ponce.
Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Mac
Mercer of Colrain, Massachu-
setts, announce the birth of a
daughter, Emily Anne Mercer,
born February 10, 1976 in
Springfield, Conn., weighing 8
pounds, 5 ounces at birth.
Emily Anne has a brother,
Hayden Andrew, age 18
months.

Assistant Health Physics
Supervisor for Yankee Atomic
Power Company in Massachu-
setts.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Mercer of Coleman, he is a 1962
graduate of Coleman High
School. He attended Howard
Payne University and graduat-
ed from Gupton Jones Mortu
ary School in Dallas. He
entered the U. S. Navy,
spending one year in Viet Nam.
His Navy service included
Nuclear Power School at
Alexandria, Virginia, one year
at McMurdo Navy Station at
the South Pole, and instructor
for Nuclear Reactor Specialists
on atomic submarines stationed
at New London, Conn.
He and his wife, a son and
daughter, live in Colrain, Mass.

at 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 22,
1976 in Overall-Morris Memor-
ial Hospital, following a long ill-

TAX CREDIT FOR LOW
INCOME WORKERS
Workers with an earned
income of under $8,000 for 1975
may be eligible for a sizeable
tax eredit, says an economist
for the Texas Agricultural
Extension Service. But they
must file a tax return to qualify.
The credit is called “Earned
Income Credit." For qualifying
wage earners with incomes of
$4,000 or less, this credit
amounts , to 10 percent of their
earned income only, up to a
maxium of $400. For those with
earnings between $4,000 and
$8,000, the amount of credit
decreases $1 for every $10 of
income over $4,000.
