Ab Enjoyable Evening.
Last Wednesday while reclining
in a big arm chair and wondering
how man and beast coaid with-
stand old sol's burning rays, the
telephone rang informing us that
Mr. and Mrs. Q’Keef extended an
invitation to about thirty of Bry-
son’s most active wide awake citi-
zens to spend the evening with
them at their ranch, about five
miles from town. In a minute,
all of our enui was gone, and the
inconvenience of living in a little
town minus a livery stable was im-
pressed upon us. There arose
quite a bustle, likewise confusion,
with ringing of bells, calling of
neighbors for horses, buggies,
hacks, wagons, anything that
might be used to convey us to our
destination. The hot day had lost
its terrors, and as the hot sun
hung low in the western horizon,
a merry group filed out of tovyn
and in due time was met by our
affable and genial host on his
beautiful lawn; while our engag
iug and lovely hostess, / from the
hall, bade us welcome, All went
as smoothly as a wedding bell,
with games, jokes, repartees, and
the most delicious melons that
ever tickled the human palate.
Lemonade was dispensed among
the thirsty crowd, while no eye
grew drowsy before the serving of
an abundance of delicious cake and
ice cream.
Mr. and Mrs. O’Keef gave to
their guests a treat greatly ap-
precaited and long to be remem-
bered. Those present were itfr.
and Mrs. Kuykendall and daugh-
ter, Leola; Mr. and Mrs. G. L.
Jones and daughter, Letha; Mr.
and Mrs. G. T. Stuart and daugh-
ter, Rubye; Mr. and Mrs. Jas.
