Letter to the Editor
What is so hard about
solving this present
Iran Situation? A letter
of communication
similar to the following
would suffice:
White House
U.S.A.
To the Iranian Govern-
ment
Sirs:
Being as how the
United States has no
intention of swapping
the Ex-Shah for those
kidnapped Americans
we urge you to read this
message carefully. The
U.S.A. will not condone
the overthrow of its
embassies and the
taking of its citizens as
hostages. Therefore we
are sending our Ma-
rines to pick up the
Americans being held
captive by youi rebel
students. We suggest
that you see that those
hostages are in good
health, fed and ready to
travel when these
Marines arrive. As God
knows we would rather
live in peace with all
peoples, but if those
hostages are not safe
and ready to travel
when our Marines
arrive then be prepared

of the U.S.A.
P.S. End of negotia-
tions. No reply neces-
sary unless it is a letter
of apology.
A song I hear quite
often ends with the
words: "O'er the land of
the free and the home of
the brave."
If our Government
can not send a message
to those kidnappers
similar to the one above
then we cease to be the
"Home of the brave."
When we cease to be the
home of the brave then
the home of the free will
cease too.
If our Government
officials are worried
about starting a
bloodbath how come we
had the bloodbathes of
Korea and Vietnem.
The safety of those
hostages are already in
danger anyway and if
their lives are the pre-
eminent consideration
of our officials why did
they let them serve over
there to start with.
Nobody forced them to
work in that embassy
(except the servicemen)
and anyone realizes
there is a certain
inherant danger in
living in a foreign
country.
If we won't defend
our ambassadors and
citizens in our foreign
embassies then we need
to change the words of
that song to: "The home
of the chicken-hearted."
