grand success to say the least of
the meeting,although on account of
the raiu some would have attended
that did not. The attendance was
good, and the spirit of God was
surely in their midst.
Gibtown and Advance played a
nice little game of ball last Friday
evening, the score being 17 to 12
in favor of Gibtown.
The writer attended the singing

that is not all of it, just at 12

days has returned home.
Well, as news is scarce I will

BROWNIE.
May 4.—We were blessed with
auother fine rain last night, also
some large hail. The hail was as
large as a hen’s egg. Some are
afraid it has damaged the corn.
Rev. Tyson lilled his appoint-
ment here Saturday afternoon and
also Sunday afternoon.
Quite a bunch of young people
: roro here went to Oak Glen Sat-
urday night. They were: Jim
Allen, Will Keith, Rob Owens,
ack Swan, Eula Green, Katie
ohnson, Minnie Green, Beulah
larris, Fay Swan, Lela Green.
We had singing at Mr. Nash’s
Suuday night and Rev. Tyson
gave us a good talk.
Will Keith and Katie Johnson
went to Sparks Springs Sunday af-
ternoon to attend church, but the

A general stock water rain all
over Jack County Monday night.
There was some hail in spots but
we have beard of no damage.
Frost in May. How does that
sound, yet several have stated
there was slight frost in low places
yesturday morning. One thing
to be thankful for is that the frost
has damaged nothing.
There is a notice in this issue
calling all the independent tel-
ephone companies to meet at the
court house June 7 for the purpose
of discussing ways to have a cen-
tral office in Jacksboto. This has
been done in many counties and it
costs nothing extra and sometimes
pays a dividend.

thing of all is that none of these
roads are pointing our way. We
are now depending entirety on the
striking of oil here for future
greatness.
GIBTOWM
May 13, 1907.—Well, as we
have had lots of rain for the past
week and everything in a thriving
condition, will try to write up a
few of the happenings.
Little E. J. Shawver and J. M.
Cox got on the war path last
Thursday evening, shouldered
their fire arms and trailed their
fishing poles behind and started
out fdr some sport, on returning
little Jimmie seeing a mule-eared
rabbit, fired and killed it, lie threw
up his hands and said: E. J., I
have violated the law, that sure is
a joung deer, and they left him on
spot where they killed it, but the
greatest of all, they captured one
fish measuring about three inches
in length.
The presideut of the Croquet
Association was in town the other
day and got so interested in the
game that the boys had to buy his
dinner and carry it to him. That is
all right though Jimmie, you are
leading the game.
Mr. T. E. Merriman and family
left Sunday for Collingsworth
county to visit Mr. Merrriman’s
people. We understand that they
will be gone several days.
Mr. J. A. Walters who has been
sick" for several days we are
.glad to see him up and out in
town again.
Mr. J. W. Sumner and family
visited Uncle Wash Middleton Sat-
urday night.
The Worker’s meeting of Jack
county which convened with the
Baptist church at Gibtown on
Thursday and Friday last was a
the way over to Mrs. Johnson’s.
Brownie had a large crowd Sun-
day afternoon. There were 36
buggies there.
Several of the young people pre-
pared to go to the entertainment at
Oran tonight, but since the rain I
don't think they will go.
It seems like it is going to stay
winter all summer.
It seems like Jack Swan was
best man over at Mr. Green’s.
Mr. J. R. Williams has put up a
phone in his house and I hear talk
of others putting in phones. After
a while all houses will have phones

STRONG
INT!
Devoe will paint your house for half or two-
thirds or three-quarters you your usual cost, and
wear as much longer as it costs less.
It is the strongest paint there is and takes less gallons; its strength is the
reason it takes less gallons.
Less gallons to buy; less money for that. Less gallons to paint; less money
for that. As the painting costs more than the paint, so the saving on painter’s
wages is more than the saving on paint itself.
Of course, strong paint wears longer than weak: that is why Devoe^ wears
longest.
If anyone doubts any statement above, here’s the
proof:
He may paint half his job Devoe, the other half any paint he likes. If Devoe
doesn’t take less gallons and cost less money (1) for the gallons and (2) for put-
ting it on, no pay. If it does, Devoe is the paint that makes least first cost.
If it doesn’t wear longer, we ll give him enough to repaint the whole job.
The time may be one year or ten or between.
Devoe is die paint that costs least, last longest,
and takes best care of the house all the time.
