ATTENDING THE STATE MEETING of the Texas
Association of FHA/HERO from the Coleman
FHA were from left, Bonnie Brown, advisor;
LeAnn Habiger, Sallie Walker and Angelita
Herring. "FHA/HERO: A Step Into The Future",
was the theme of the 1984 meeting which was
held in the Convention Center in San Antonio
April 12-13. Keynote speakers and presentat-
ions by Future Homemakers was the highlight of
the two-day conference. Interest sessions were
held on family crisis, leadership skills, nutrition
and employability.

The Mutual Improve-
ment Club met at the home
of I^Juan Sneed on May
11. The hostess served
crackers and cheese, muf-
fins, mints and punch as
the members arrived.
Karen Taylor presided
over the meeting. After
the roll call, the minutes
were read by the secre-
tary, Ruth Dodson. Eunice
King gave the treasurer's
report.
La Juan gave a program
based on her collection of
antiques. Mrs. Sneed sta-
ted almost everyone has
family antiques of which
they are proud. She told of
owning the family wash-
pot and an old Georgia
stock plow. She displayed
her father’s Smith and
Wesson pistol, his leather
cuffs, and her bottle collec-
tion. Another unusual item
was an old school bell used
in Oklahoma Territory by
her two aunts. She had
many glass, crystal and
china family pieces, as well
as a set of china Dionne
quintuplet dolls.
The next meeting will be
in September. The year-
book committee will be in
charge of the program and
the new officers will be
installed.

of the 1983-84 year, the
Captain William Buckner
Chapter, Daughters of the
American Revolution met
at Conger's Clubroom on
May 12 for a luncheon.
Mrs. Hardy Blue offered
the prayer.
Chapter Regent Mrs.
Don Starnes called the
regular meeting to order
and the devotional was
given by Chaplain Mrs.
Hardy Blue. Members re-
peated the Pledge of Alle-
giance to the Flag and the
American’s Creed. Minutes
of the April 14 meeting
were read and approved.
Mrs. Starnes read the
President General's mes-
sage which told of events
at the 93rd Continental
Congress and the con-
tinued preservation of na-
tional DAB buildings dur-
ing this Independence
Jubilee Administration.
The program was given
by Mrs. Robert See and
was entitled “Are We Good
Americans?”
Installation of officers
was conducted by Mrs. V.
J. Kemper. Those installed
were; Mrs. Don E. Starn-
es, Regent; Mrs. J. C.
Wilkerson, First Vice-Re-
Second Vice-Regent; Miss
Elizabeth Alexander,
Chaplain; Mrs. Hugh B.
Williams, Secretary; Mrs.
